The benefits of salt
Hello friends! Again meet me, I am your own @safdarali . I am here to discuss "benefits of salt." As we know that, salt is very important ingredients that we use in our daily lives. It adds flavour in food and provides vital minerals to body. In this post, I will share my personal experience with different types of salt, its benefits, storage tips and how I fix salty meals. So let's start!
I usually consume table salt in my daily life. It is very cheap, available easily and fits with all kinds of dishes. This salt dissolves quickly at cooking time and gives a consistent taste. Sometimes, I also use pink Himalayan salt when I want a healthier option, especially in salads and raw foods. Sea salt is good too, but I use it hardly. Table salt is my preference and mostly used. I use of it, because of its simplicity and traditional use in our kitchen.
Salt has many important benefits for our body.
- It helps to keep fluid balance in body.
- Salt supports proper muscle and nerve functions.
- Taste of food can be improved with the help of salt.
- Iodized salt fill iodine deficiency, support tothyroid function and make it healthy.
- Salt also work like a natural preservative of food.
- In small amounts, it is essential for health.
Important thing is that , excessive use of salt can lead to high blood pressure and heart diseases. This is the reason why it is important to use it carefully and in balanced.
It is very easy to find salt in supermarket and even small shop of street. This is easily available in my country and my area. We can find it in almost every grocery store in different types like table salt, sea salt and Himalayan pink salt. It is a common item and has very low cost. It's price in PKR 60 rupees of salt powder per Kg. It will be 1.3 steem in steem token. And iodized salt is available in PKR150, it will be about 5 steem in steem token of per Kg.
I have special way to storing salt to preserve its properties.
I always store salt in an airtight jar mad of glass. It keep moisture away. This helps prevent salt from becoming damp and clumpy.
I also used few rice grains of uncooked in the jar to save it's properties. The rice absorbs any moisture and keep to salt dry and fresh.
I avoid using plastic bottle or kar for long term storage.
This traditional method of store salt really works well. Especially in humid weather, it keeps the salt in good condition for daily use.
If I found, there is too much salt in a dish, I peeled potato and add to that dish while it is still cooking. The potato absorb over salt and it help balance to flavour. This trick works 100%. After cooking, I remove the potato before serving.
One more trick is to increase the quantity of the dish by putting more ingredients like water, vegetables or cream.
Third trick is that, adding a small dough ball can also reduce saltiness.
- These simple kitchen hacks help to fix salty meals easily.
