Muro Ghonto is a traditional dish of Bangladesh. It's a curry made from Mung Dal with fish heads. The dish is delicious, and flavourful, and goes well with rice and roti.

Hello, Iron Chefs!

I'm @rem-steem from Dhaka- Bangladesh, and today I'm going to show you the detailed step-by-step process of preparing this dish.

It was our yesterday's meal. Before going to the cooking process. Let's see the ingredients list.

Ingredients:

  • Mung Dal 200 gm
  • One big fish head, you can use any fish. I used the fish head of Catla (South Asian carp).
  • One large totamo
  • 1 teaspoon of Garlic and Ginger paste
  • Turmeric and salt accordingly
  • One big onion (sliced)
  • Green cilli and coriander (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons of cooking oil
  • 1 pinch of Cumin seeds

Let's see the process.

Fry the Mung Dal for a minute and wash them properly. Frying makes the Dal more flavourful so don't skip this step.

Fry the onion in cooking oil and put some cumin seeds.

Add garlic and ginger paste, green chili, turmeric, and salt according to your taste, and cook for a minute.

When oil separates, add the fish head. I used only the middle part of the head as it was a huge piece.

Cook the fish head properly for a while and then add the fried & washed mung dal.

Add some water and cook it in a pressure cooker or any pan you like until it's soft.

I cooked it in a pressure cooker and waited 2 whiches to properly cook the dish.

After removing the pressure, add tomatoes and coriander if you like.

Cook for another few minutes to combine the flavors and remove from the oven.

Serve it with rice/roti or anything you want.

This dish may look simple but so flavourful. For people who don't like fish, especially fish heads, I would recommend trying this dish. You will not notice any fishy smell, only the flavourful taste.
