Give us this day our daily bread. Matthew 6:11
Dear community! Dear friends!
The sweet voice of our Lord Jesus Christ is heard by the restless soul of his followers: Master! Teach us to pray!
The picture that Jesus presents in his teaching is wonderful:
-The request for the presence of God
-The demand of daily life
-The request for forgiveness and freedom.
Matthew 6:11
Give us today our daily bread.
Now we have to paint the lines, relate them to us and give color to the prayer.
The application for pang is the only application that has material problems. In bread everything is summarized, that is food. It literally says: "Our daily bread! Give it to us today!"
In Jesus' day there were no supermarkets or durable bread in plastic bags. They took the ingredients from the sourdough and knead the fermented dough overnight. The next day, the bread was made with crushed pastry. Then the order of the bread was very practical:
Our father:
Give us today the ingredients for the dough, so you can knead it and ferment it during the night. Tomorrow we can make bread and eat it.
The basic needs of the time were significantly combined with bread. If you have enough bread, at least depend on surviving. Of course it was not like that. In the first Christian communities, the cultures were unstable, many grains for their care, the powers of the Roman occupation, famines were commonplace.
Our reality here and now, does not differ significantly from that moment, we also lack the articles of first necessity, and also in many parts of the world, product of perverse policies, hurricanes, earthquakes, civil war, mega-inflation, etc. .
This bread application shows four aspects:
1 The petition is addressed to God the Father
We do not direct this request to an impersonal service center, we fill out applications and forms that we can send online, but we are talking to God, who comes as close to us as only the father and mother can. Parents generally know about the need of their children, so God wants to know us. As the one who knows us, who wants to give us what we need, so that we can grow.
It suits you that we are well. Then a request is available. Maybe someone asks, why the time you have to trust God that bread is missing, do not you know what we need in all the ways? Yes, God knows, when we are hungry. But even more important that we make happy with the bread is to get in touch with us. The request for bread is a starting point for him, which will happen and he knows more.
2 Order ingredients for tomorrow's bread
Our Heavenly Father does not allow the ready bread to fall from heaven, we just have to get up like the people of Israel in the desert, man in the morning. The prayers are about ingredients that can be turned into bread.
We all like God to respond immediately to requests, without us doing anything. This is not the way it usually works. God gives grains, gives fermented dough and water, but expects us to put hands to action.
God gives us people in the church, but our job is to be with them, to help us find their place.
3 Bread is the gift of God
God gives us the bread and unites us to him. He wants us to trust him, and he wants us to give him his gift. In earlier times, the table collected was distributed to the needy. One put his best potatoes and apples, polished, on the table of the Holy Supper. Afterwards, they did not take her home, but they left her in the house of God. God also wanted to make others happy that they got it the next day.
Actually, every Christian knows it. We receive so much love from God that we can pass it without missing anything.
Specifically, this may mean:
Unexpectedly, someone got a bigger amount of money. Not only does it not consume it by itself or put it on the higher end, it also supports a project to help people.
One is very talented. She is not only renovating her own home, but she is getting involved in the work of her congregation.
One likes to cook. She cooks not only for her own extended family, but invites older people, who enjoy a table and a speech.
One is a musician and gives refugee children free music lessons.
The list can be continued indefinitely. What we get from God is not only for ourselves, but it urges our fellow human beings, how beautiful if we can transmit it!
4 The order of bread is spoken by several.
"Give us our bread." The community is supportive in ordering bread. The need of one is the need of others. In the church you pray for each other and you help very practically.
The bread is enough, because it is distributed. And, as with the miracles of Jesus, there are still 12 baskets left to go through. "
Why not offer a bread? We can share it kindly with another person.
The one sitting next to me, my neighbor, the one I'm visiting this afternoon, Greetings from God, not dusted off the shelf, but his love crosses the stomach.
Jesus, who places this request in our mouths like a coloring book to which we give our personal color, tells us: we will not die of hunger and thirst when we are with him, he will give us more than we need daily. We can trust Him, because God wants the best for us.
Soon many families will be blessed and will have bread in the home, thanks to the tokens called BEATITUDES, by our Sirknight Leader.

God who created us as a way of feeding us. If he can feed the birds of the air and the fishes of the sea, how much more will he feed us who he created in his own image after his likeness
