Today, I will share with you information about the Folk Art and Crafts Museum in our country. It is known as the Bangladesh Folk Art and Crafts Museum, Sonargaon. The Bangladesh Folk Art and Crafts Museum, located in Sonargaon, was established in 1975. The museum was built by Zainul Abedin in the Narayanganj district by the then government of Bangladesh. First, the museum was established in an old landlord's house called BaraSardarbari. The museum comprises several parts, including the library, Craft Village, and the Big Lake.

The museum has weapons, furniture, clothing, and ornaments used by ancient kings for visitors to see. The Folk Art Museum of the Ancient and Middle Ages of Bangladesh is housed here. Handicrafts in Bangladesh include bamboo and wood products crafted by the people of various regions and tribes. You will also see ancient coins of Bangladesh. We can see the carvings and earthenware made by the people of Bangladesh. I visit museums and see ancient artefacts that are no longer used in our country.

Location of Bangladesh Folk Art and Crafts Museum, Sonargaon Museum:
The Bangladesh Folk Art and Crafts Museum, located in Sonargaon, Narayanganj District, is approximately twenty-four kilometres from our country's capital, Dhaka. It takes about half an hour to reach the museum from the capital, Dhaka. You will see the lost traditions of our country in the museum. I have shown the location of the museum below via the Steem-atlas map.

Description of Folk Art and Karu Art Museum, Sonargaon:
My Steemian friends @shahid76 and @sojib1996 and I travel to the historical places in our country every month. These two Steemian friends are my colleagues at the office. We visit the Bangladesh Folk Art and Craft Museum in Sonargaon on weekends in the morning. I have visited this museum several times before. So the places inside my museum are familiar. The museum is located about fifteen kilometres from our house. I purchased three tickets before entering the museum. Below is the ticket price for entry to the museum. I took a few pictures before entering the museum.

Then we enter the museum through its main entrance. Upon entry, security personnel conduct a body search on us. The security facilities at the museum are excellent. Many foreign visitors come to the museum. I entered and saw a beautiful pond on the right-hand side. On the other side of the pond, there is a manor house which looks very nice. Many visitors, like me, stand by the pond and take pictures of the zamindar's house. Then we slowly walked into the museum. In front of the museum stands a monument to Shilpacharya Zainul Abedin. Many people do not recognise Zainul Abedin's monument from a distance. I recognised Zainul Abedin's monument from a distance because I saw it in the history section of the book.

Then I first noticed the missing items used in rural life in our country. I recall visiting the museum as a child and seeing most of the rural traditions on display. Due to technological advancements worldwide, these are no longer seen in villages. In the picture below, the plough, ladder, and bamboo umbrella, which the farmer used to shield himself from the sun or rain on his head, are no longer visible in the village. Village women no longer use a sieve for rice. There are no fishing facilities in the village. These rural traditions are preserved in the museum to be passed down to future generations.

The disappearing rural heritage of our country

Then I entered a three-story LoK and craft industrial unit. I first visited the folk and craft industries on the ground floor. Here, the works of art are kept in glass on the walls. I take pictures on my mobile from outside the glass. I take a lot of pictures on my mobile, out of which I have shared some important pictures with you. I am amazed to see the shoes used in ancient times. I have heard the story of such shoes from my grandparents. Today, I visited the museum and saw the shoes used in ancient times.

Shoes and weapons used in our country in ancient times

Currently, most people in our country are building. In ancient times, there were no buildings for human habitation. People used to design tin and wooden houses for living. In ancient times, people in our country used furniture made of clay. In the modern era, people no longer use clay furniture. The clay furniture is kept in the museum for future generations to see. In our country, the vehicle system has been modernised. In ancient times, the primary mode of transportation in our country was a boat. People used to travel to different parts of the country to conduct business with boats of various designs.

Then I went to the second floor of the museum. I couldn't describe the numerous pieces of furniture in the museum. I am describing some of the best pieces of furniture I have seen, accompanied by pictures. In our country's past, the palanquin was used for weddings. We now get married in the modern era and come home with the bride in a car. In ancient times, the people of our country used to bring the bride home in a palanquin. I have heard the story of the palanquin from my grandparents. Today I came to the museum and saw the palanquin. The way I carried the palanquin on my shoulders in the picture is exactly how the bride was carried home in a palanquin in earlier days.

We find electrical home appliances modern in the present era. The electrical home appliances shown in the picture were used in our country during the Middle Ages. I recall seeing such electrical home appliances during my childhood. Currently, such electrical home appliances are no longer used. I am an electrical engineer, so I have photographed old electrical home appliances.

Then I left the Folk Art and Art Museum. The museum features a large lake within its grounds and is surrounded by lush greenery. A lot of beautiful greenery, which made me feel good. I wandered inside the museum to see the greenery and take pictures. Local and foreign visitors, like me, are taking pictures and enjoying the beautiful scenery. Then I walked forward and saw another unit of the museum.

Some beautiful views inside the museum

Here, our country's bamboo and rattan furniture are brought from different parts of the country and sold. The Khadi cloth of our country is famous. Local and foreign tourists visit the museum and shop here. I wandered around for about an hour looking at and buying these pieces of furniture. The furniture made by people in different regions of our country is very perfect. I enjoy visiting museums. I saw many foreign tourists travelling here today.
