Gyeonghuigung is a palace built in 1617 and completed in 1620 when Gwanghaegun was in power during the Joseon Dynasty. It is located on the west side of Gyeongbokgung Palace, the main palace, so it was also called Seogwol. The shape of the land is long from east to west, and the outer palace and the inner palace are arranged from side to side, and it boasted a large scale with about 190 halls and doors.
With the construction of Gyeongseong Middle School in Japanese colonial era, most of the Gyeonghui Palace was demolished and the area was reduced by more than half, losing the appearance and status of the palace. However, after excavation of the Gyeonghui Palace site, the three palaces of Soongjeongjeon Hall, Jeongjeongjeon Hall, and Taeryeongjeon Hall were restored and opened to the public.
