Woljeongsa Temple is located in Odaesan Mountain, Jinbu-myeon, Pyeongchang-gun, Gangwon-do, and is a temple built by Jajangyulsa, a monk during the Silla Dynasty. After returning from the Tang Dynasty in 643 (the 12th year of Queen Seondeok of the Silla Dynasty), Jajangyulsa thought that Odaesan Mountain was a sacred place where Munsu Bodhisattva stayed, so he wanted to build a hermitage and stay there to see Munsu Bodhisattva.
It is considered a major Buddhist temple because it is the center of Munsu's faith and has Jeokmyeolbogung, a temple dedicated to Jinsinsari. It is also the headquarters of the fourth parish of the Jogye Order of Korean Buddhism, and houses a number of important Buddhist heritages of the temple at Seongbo Museum.
