We eats food to gain the necessary vitamins to live and carry out protective measures to keep them away from the sick bed or worse from dying. Our foods apparently comes from plants, but then how does plant get their necessary vitamins for growth and how can we secure our plants from failing sick or worse dying? Well, you get to know all that of you stick around till the end.

Talk about the Roles of Fertilizers and Pesticide in Agriculture

Fertilizers are like vitamins for plants, giving them the nutrients they need to grow strong and healthy. Imagine a plant as a human; it needs food to grow, just like we do, fertilizers therefore provide them with the essential nutrients the need like nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium, which are crucial for their growth, flowering, and fruit production.

Pesticides, on the other hand, are the security or bodyguard of plants that helps keep them away from destruction by pest. I.e., Pesticides help protect crops from pesky insects, weeds, and diseases that can damage them, shielding them away from harmful creatures.

Just as humans need to be food and water to survive and be alert to prevent sickness and diseases, both fertilizers and pesticides are important tools to plants and farmers in this modern agriculture, as they help us grow more food efficiently and sustainably, while also making room for us to produce higher yields, improve the quality of crops, and reduce food waste.

Are there local fertilizers and how effective are they

Yes. Just like humans have imported (foreign) and locally produced foods to eat, so also are plants, there are local fertilizers which we can locally make from natural ingredients found in our area such as compost, manure, and even leftover food scraps. Acting just like homemade plant food at home.

Some might say they prefer foreign fertilizers and locally made ones might not cut it, however I tell you, these local fertilizers are often just as effective as store-bought ones, especially when it comes to improving soil health and providing nutrients for the plants. It is just like having organic foods from your garden compared to processed food. Just as the organic food gotten from the garden are fresher and cheaper, so are locally made fertilizers as they are usually gentler in the environment and often cheaper to make.

Don't get me wrong, I am not saying foreign or chemical fertilizers are not good, all I'm saying is that using compost is like giving our plants a healthy, home-cooked meal, while foreign or chemical fertilizers are like giving them fast food, of which both can help the plants grow, but the home-cooked meal is better for the long-term health of our plants and the soil.

Is there any traditional way of killing pests on crops and how effective is it without causing harm to the plant

Before vehicles were invented, we were able to transport goods and services around the world, in the same vein, before modern pesticides were introduced to our fathers, they used traditional pesticides. So to answer your question, Yes! and traditional pest control has been around for ages, as our fathers used natural methods before the introduction of pesticides.

One popular means commonly used among us is using companion planting. This means having a supporting plant to your crops as some plants are naturally pests repellents, therefore by planting them near our crops creates a natural barrier. For example, the marigold plants are known to keep away aphids, while garlic is known to deter a variety of insects.

Another very common one is the use of natural sprays made from ingredients like garlic, pepper, or neem oil which helps to keep pests away from our crops without harming them.

However, these traditional methods might not be as quick as chemical pesticides of today, but then, they are considered to be safe for plants and our environment, taking a rather slow and steady approach that works with nature, not against it.

MODs Comment/Recommendation:
There were lots of traditional fertilizers and pesticides then which helped and supported plants growth, it's just that the modern ways has overpowered it. You have made a great post, wish you luck.
