SLCtextileclub-S23W2| Crochet Belt for Females!
Hello friends,
Welcome to the week 2 of the SLC. In this week's tutorial, we are going to learn how to crochet a female belt.
A lot of people ask me how and when I learnt crochet, well, crochet has been my thing since inception. I wouldn't exactly say that I learned it because I never did. We were just given a practical on crochet in school and we all had to find our way around it.
I know I am nor perfect, but I am open to learn everyday. Giving up isn't for me, I strive till I get ot. I just hope my explanation would be clear to y'all.
So for this work, we'll be needing;
• Crochet
• Crochet pin
• Scissors
• Beads (Optional)
• First, we'll make a magic ring. Roll the yarn over your two finger, make a knot by passing the hook from under.
• Now, in the ring, we make 20 single crochet (depending on the size of your ring, it could be more or less)
• Next, at the last point, you pass the yarn through the very first stich to make a slip knot. Now, we have the ring ready.
• Next, we are going to start the body of the belt. Make 4 chains and insert the hook into the first chain and yarn over using double crochet.

---|
• We are going to double crochet 5 times into the same chain, then yarn over through the 5 double crochet and we have two chains left, we yarn over the two chains and we have a single crochet.
• We make another 4 chains, insert the hook into the side chains of the double crochet that was made previously, and make 5 times double crochet, than yarn over through the double crochet and we have two chains left. We yarn over again through the two chains and we have a single crochet.

• We are going to continue with this process until we reach the end ( you keep measuring it to get the exact length you desire) and make sure it's not too tight. End it by making a slip knot, yarn over the first point and close it.
• Once the body is completed, we start a chain of 5 and then insert it into the joints of the belt. You continue with this pattern until the end. Then continue with the same pattern on the other side till the end which is the starting point.

• Finally, after you must have ended your work, you cut the yarn using a scissors. Pull through the non-working yarn and then using the hook, neatly insert the left-over yarn behind and cut out the excesses.

• You can add a button to close it up through the ring. I used beads to form a knot for the ring.

Here, I have the final result. I have made a video to show all processes.
Hello @ninapenda
I enjoyed reading your post.
I think the idea has a lot of possibilities apart from making a belt; it could also be made into a bag strap or if you used thinner thread you could make a headband, choker or even a bracelet.
😊

Hi! Your belt looks beautiful and it looks easy to make, I didn't know you could also do that in crochet😮, I'm surprised, but I guess the sky is the limit when it comes to knitting.
Have a nice day!
