CAPTURING SOME LOCAL CROPS IN MY LOCALITY; THEIR USES/BENEFITS
Hello Steemians!, I hope you all are doing great.it's such a bright and sunny weather to explore the Agricultural world with you today. Let's dive on together as I journey you through some of the traditional crops I captured that are common in our communities.
A collection of the local crops
AFANG LEAF
One of my Uncle has a large stand of Afang leaves at his compound while I visited him I captured this amazing local crop. Afang leaf is mostly grown in the southern part of Nigeria. USES: it is used in preparing the native soup we all know as the AFANG SOUP. You can eat it with Garri and fufu. BENEFITS:It contains calcium and vitamins which are essential for the immune system.
PALM FRUIT
Palm Fruit in my local dialect(Ibibio) is called "eyop".I visited one of the oil Processing Mills in my village and I captured this crop. USES:It is Used for producing red oil which is used in cooking dishes. It's kernel seed is used in making body oils, cosmetics and also for soap making. BENEFITS:It is a very essential source of income for some families. It is also rich in Vitamins for our body.

CASSAVA
Cassava in my local dialect(Ibibio) is called "IWA". I visited my cassava farm at the village and I harvested some back home. USES:It is used in the Production of Garri and fufu after being processed. It can also be used to make cassava chips known as "EDITA IWA" in my dialect. BENEFITS:It nutritional content(Carbohydrate) provides us with energy after consumption.

CONCLUSION
I'm so happy to share this knowledge with you all and I encourage this local crops shouldn't be ignored in our locality as they are essential and vital to our everyday living.
