Some traditional farming methods. A peasant method

in Steem-Agro4 days ago

Hello everyone. Today I'd like to start with a very interesting topic: how artisanal farmers, so to speak, grow their crops.

One method is the use of organic fertilizers, such as decomposing matter, old trees, unusable fruits, and also the excrement of various animals, such as cattle or poultry, etc.

Another method is crop rotation to improve soil quality. After harvesting, the land may be left to rest, and then, once it has rested for a period of up to three or four months, it is planted again. It's worth mentioning that crops also provide minerals to the soil, such as calcium, potassium, magnesium, and iron, among others.

Another method is the adaptation of traditional techniques to the new challenges of climate change. For example, there are seasons for each crop, but if it doesn't rain, you can't plant it. The same thing happens during the season when corn should be planted: it should rain, but it happens that it starts raining halfway through the season or once that time has passed. Some methods used include building large, deep wells to extract water and then irrigating the crops after the rain has stopped.

Well, that's all for today on artisanal agriculture. I had forgotten to mention that some of the countries that use these techniques are Mexico, Cuba, etc.

Well, thank you very much for reading my post. Remember one thing: agriculture is a wonderful thing. Watching plants grow and then consuming or selling them is incredible.
