The field of agriculture can be regarded as one of the most curious spheres of human civilization as it makes people be closer to nature and keep the life. In addition to merely supplying food, agriculture can change culture, economy and even social relations. When I imagine farming, I usually see it as a kind of close collaboration of human beings and nature, not only the process of planting some seeds or breeding some animals. Any planted seed is a hope of growth, nourishment and sustenance of life.

The introduction of a integration between the established ways of doing things and the new technology has turned out to be one of the most stimulating trends in contemporary agriculture. Farmers are not bound to manual labor and archaic methods any more; it is also possible to have mechanized farming, crop monitoring drones and even blockchain supply chains and agricultural trade visibility. These innovations make farming efficient and productive and they also reduce waste and losses. Still, they ask such questions, which are very useful, and they are: sustainability and the role of small-scale farmers who may not afford such technologies.

We also have the increased concern of organic agriculture and agroecology. There is also growing consciousness of what human beings put in their mouth with preference being given to foodstuffs that are grown without using toxic substances. This has forced farmers to contemplate using natural fertilized, crop rotation and biological control of pests. Such practices not only make sure that soil is healthy but they also preserve environment to the generations to come.

Agriculture also is closely associated with climate change. Droughts and floods are such extreme weather conditions that are posing a threat to food security in the world. Resistant crops, irrigation systems and conservation techniques are forcing farmers to adapt to the evolving climatic conditions. Interestingly, agriculture is a neglected cause and an effect of climate change because the air has deforestation and livestock emissions. Food and environmental protection need to be balanced therefore a global issue.

Everything said and done agriculture is not only farming but a way of life, a science, a sort of an art which has continued to evolve with the demands of man. It remains the origin of survival and growth.
