Cow Milk (Nunu) — A Rich Agricultural Treasure in Nigeria
Cow milk, which is locally referred to as nunu is one of the most outstanding products that the agricultural industry introduces to us. Nunu is a special food in the household of many Nigerians not only because it is highly flavored, but because it contains many health benefits and because it also helps maintain our farming legacy.
Cow milk is an original natural treat right out of the healthy cows that are reared by pastoralists. It is also a great source of calcium, protein, vitamins, and minerals which help in strengthening the bones of the body as well as its resistance to diseases and also help in growth enhancement of children. Conventionally, nunu is appreciated based on the ability to help in digestion and soothe stomach problems and provide a light creamy rich taste that most people love.
Nunu is prepared through careful gentle milking which is normally done by hand and hygienic practice to prevent contamination. This ensures a clean hygienic product. Nunu may be refrigerated or stored in some cool place after milking to enable it to last longer and maintain its rich flavor.
Nunu is an all rounded food. It is consumed by some people directly, chilled, or sweetened, it is turned into yogurt, cheese (wara) or it can even be added to local food. This flexibility is reflected in rural and urban food in the nation.
Moreover, nunu production is the direct source of income to a high number of pastoral families and has helped in making agricultural communities financially stable. This in its turn, also preserves traditional practices and knowledge which have also been handed down through generation.
Nunu or cow milk is not simply a food, it is the cultural heritage of the people, health food and indicator of sustainable agriculture. Be it the reinforcement of a growing child, or the maintenance of a traditional lifestyle, nunu is one of the strongest evidence of how rich in agricultural resources we are in the state of Nigeria.

MODs Comment/Recommendation:
Could it be that the popular Nunu milk is directly from cow milk? The health benefits are so much, maybe I should consider going back to drinking that milk.
