Steem-agro Contest: "Basic Knowledge in Agriculture 50

Agriculture is the oldest profession of man and the main source livelihood. Our food, clothing, and even many of the necessities of life come from agriculture. Therefore, it is important for all us have basic knowledge about agriculture. Those who live in villages are directly associated with agriculture. However, city people also benefit from knowing importance agriculture and its basic concepts.

we need know what agriculture means. Agriculture is process cultivating land, sowing seeds, taking care plants finally harvesting crops. Not only crops, agriculture also includes fruits, vegetables, flowers, livestock farmin even fish farming. In other words agriculture broad field deeply involved peoples daily lives.

Some basic inputs are required for agricultural work. Among these, land, seeds, water, fertilizer, agricultural machinery, and labor are the most important. Agriculture is not possible without land. To grow good crops, the fertility of the land has to be maintained. For this, organic fertilizers or chemical fertilizers are used. However, currently, more emphasis is being given to environmentally friendly agriculture or organic agriculture, where natural fertilizers are used.

Seed selection is another important step in agriculture. Using good quality seeds increases crop production. Sometimes farmers use local seeds, and sometimes they get good yields by using improved varieties of seeds. It is also necessary to know the right time to sow seeds. For example, if the time of planting rice is not right, then the yield can decrease.

Irrigation or watering is also very important. Adequate water needs to be provided according to the type of crop. Just as excess water is harmful, lack of water can also destroy the crop. For this, canals, ponds, tubewells, or irrigation pumps are used.

Agriculture is not just about crop production, it also involves taking care of the crop. For example, cleaning weeds, controlling insects, keeping the plants disease-free, etc. Farmers use pesticides, but currently efforts are being made to control pests in natural ways. This reduces costs and protects the environment.

The time harvesting the crop is also very important. If harvested too early, the grains remain raw, and if harvested too late, the crop can be ruined. By harvesting crops at right time, farmers get better prices and quality food is also maintained.

Agriculture not only provides food, it is also a big helper our economy. In many countries, including Bangladesh, agriculture is the mainstay of national income. Farmers work hard produce food, and we live by eating that food. That is why farmers are called lifeblood country.

Nowadays people leaning towards modern agriculture. Agricultural work has become much easier with the use of various machines including tractors, power tillers, combine harvesters. Also, it is becoming possible to grow more crops even on a small land by using new technologies.

Finally, if we have basic knowledge about agriculture, we will not only be able to understand the hard work of farmers, but we will also be able to participate in agricultural work, even if on a small scale. Vegetables can be cultivated on the roof or balcony of the house, which helps us get healthy food. Agriculture is not only a livelihood, it is one of the main foundations of our culture, tradition and survival.
