The last few days, the atmosphere in our neighborhood has felt more lively than usual. It all started with the preparation of a large-scale mutual cooperation event that will be held to commemorate Independence Day next month. As the week began, discussions at the guard post had already begun focused on, among other things, on who would be responsible for cleanliness, who would paint the gate and plans for competitions for children and mothers.

The air began to hum in the early hours of the morning with the sound of brooms and the smell of wet paint. The men were spotted painting near the fence surrounding the prayer room and fixing a flagpole that fell during strong winds earlier in the week. The women, in turn, planted fresh flowers along the road. They appeared quite content to talk while planting, laughing now and then and joking over who got down the rows quickest.

They spent as much time playing as they did working — often, the two activities were indistinguishable — but they brought an air of cheer. Their loud calls echoed across the small grassy field at the back end of the alley during tug-of-war and sack race drills each afternoon.

The man had been ill and had not been seen a long time, and this mutuality of assistance appeared to revive him. There were a bunch of young men approaching to say hello and talk to him. This warmth of feeling went to my very heart.

There the residents convened once more that evening in the RT hall. We talked, drinking tea and nibbling fried snacks. The RT head presided over the meeting in an informal manner, assigned the competition tasks and solicited suggestions from the residents. Everything went smoothly. Well, no one questioned that, everyone agreed to support so an amazing event could happen.
