Hello everyone! Are you fine?Sometimes, no one talk about the best movies. These movies do not win awards or in trending topics. But still, these movies stay in our hearts forever. The topic of this week gave me a chance to think about these movies. I have seen many popular films, but some small, quiet movies touched me deeply. Let's talk about them.
◉Mention 5 lesser-known or underrated movie you have seen before.
I mentioned, 5 lesser known movies that I have seen before:
The Man Who Knew Infinity (2015): This movie describe the story of Ramanujan. He is a self taught math genius from India. His journey to Cambridge and the struggle that he faced, made this movie very emotional and interesting. In this movie the acting was simple and strong. It did not become hit movie. But for me, it is rememberable movie. This movie taught me, passion can break any barrier.
The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind (2019): I have seen this movie in before 4 years. In this movie, a boy belong to a small village in Africa make a windmill for save his people from hunger. It is based on true story. First I thought this is boring movie, but it changed my mind. It shows how a small idea can change lives. This was also underrated movie. People not talk about it, but it really deserves more love.

About Time (2013): It looks like a romantic movie, but this was more than it. It had much deeper. It is about a young man who can travel in time. But in place of changing the world, he used it to enjoy small moments with his family. I saw this movie during difficult time in my life. This movie helped me a lot. This is emotional and real, but not very famous.
A Monster Calls (2016): This movie connect fantasy with real emotions. A boy is dealing with his mother’s sickness. A tree monster visits him at night and slowly, we learn how pain hides behind stories. It is a slow film, but it hit me deep. I cried after it ended. Most people have not seen it, but I suggest they must watch this movie.
Kahaani 2 (2016): This Hindi movie had a strong message about child abuse. Vidya Balan did very powerful acting. But sadly, it did not get popularity like first part Kahaani. Still, I think this one was bolder and braver. It stayed with me for days.
◉Discuss your reasons for saying these movies you have mentioned are lesser known or underrated movies.
These movies are less popular, there are different reasons for this.
- First movieThe Man Who Knew Infinity talks about a real life genius, Ramanujan. The story of this movie is powerful but did not get much attention because it was not promoted like big commercial movie. Mathematics focus also made boring to viewer.
- The second is The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind is also life changing story. But it did not become famous because it was quietly released on Netflix. It also focuses on Africa and poverty. Many people skipped it thinking it would be too serious or slow.
- Third movie is About Time looks like a romantic movie but in real this is much deeper. Many people ignored it thinking, this will be another love story. This movie did not have big action scenes or drama. So it did not attract a big audience.
- The next movie A Monster Calls
is mixes fantasy and emotion that confused many viewers. It was not easy to market and because it’s slow paced and deep. That is why people didn’t talk much about it. - The last one Kahaani 2 movie also got less attention. The first part was a hit. The subject of child abuse made it uncomfortable for many people. So it was overlooked despite its bold and meaningful story.
◉What do you think can be done to make these movies better known or valued more.
Some movies do not become hit, but are deserve to be seen. We can help by doing small things which make big difference.
These movies can be promoted by discussing with our friends and family. If we found any movie good, we should post it on social media. People believe in real opinions more than ads.
Second thing is that, schools and colleges should show these kinds of movies. Movie like The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind can motivate to students. These stories are simple but strong.
People who write blogs or make YouTube videos can create short reviews and personal reactions. A story from the heart touches others more than fancy words.
Fourth, film festivals should add a “Hidden Gem” category. If these movies get a little attention in such events, more people will notice them.
Lastly, online movie nights can help. Friends can watch a movie together on Zoom or in a group and then talk about it. This makes the movie more memorable.
All these small actions can bring light to forgotten movies. We only need to care enough to share.
Not every great movie is loud. Some speak in whispers. But these stay in your heart forever. This challenge helped me remember movies that did not get awards but gave me deep feelings.
