Contest: Courtesy
Assalam o alaikum.
Hello my Steemit friends. I am happy to participate in this new contest about courtesy. This is a topic thats touches our daily lives. Courtesy is something i try to practice in my life because I believes it makes our world better. In this post j will share my thoughts on courtesy why it is important and how it is used or ignored in our culture. I hope you enjoy reading my post.
What do you understand by courtesy? Explain.
Courtesy means being polites respectful and kind in the way we talked and act with others. It is abouts using good manners and showing cares for other peoples feelings. Simple things like saying “please ” “thank you ” “sorry ” or “excuse me” are examples of courtesy. It also means listening to others waiting your turn and not hurting anyone with your words or actions. To me courtesy is a way to show that we respect others and care about them. It helps to keep peace and love between people in a family in school at work and in the whole society.
Do you think courtesy is important? Should it be observed? Tell us.
Yes k believe courtesy is very important. It makes communications easier and relationships strongered when we are politely to each other we can solved problems peacefully. Courtesy makes others feels valued and respected even when we are upsets being courteous helps us stay calmed and solved things in a betters way.Courtesy should always be observed no matter who the person is. Whether someone is rich or poor young or old man or woman everyone deserves to be treated with respect. It is a sign of good character and good upbringing.
Name five instances where courtesy is demanded in your culture.
In my culture especially in Pakistan there are many situations where courtesy is important. Here are five of them:
Greeting elders – It is respectful to greet elders by saying “Assalamualaikum” and giving them full attention. Sometimes we also kiss their hands or stand up when they enter.
Visiting someone’s home – We always take small gifts like sweets or fruits. We also remove our shoes at the door and wait to be offered a seat before sitting.
During meals – We say “Bismillah” before eating and don’t start eating before elders. We also never waste food and thank the person who cooked.
In public transport – Young people give their seats to old people women or disabled persons. This is a strong tradition of courtesy in our society.
Talking to teachers or guests – We speak politely don’t interrupt them and use words like “Sir ” “Madam ” or “Aap” to show respect.
State instances where courtesy was neglected. Maybe you witnessed it or someone told you.
Yes i have seen some sad situations where courtesy was not shown. Once i was in a local bus and saw a young man sitting comfortably while an old man stood with difficulty. The boy ignored him and acted like he did not see it mades me feel really bad. Another time we had guests at our house and one of my cousins kepts using his phone during dinner without talking to anyones he didn’t even greet them properly. My mother was upset because in our cultures guests are treated like family and not paying attentions to them is seen as very rude my friend also shared how someone at a shop talked to her rudely just because she asked a question twice. That person had no patience or manners. It made her feel very hurt. These small actions may seem simple but they can leave a deep negative impression. They show that we are not respecting others and that’s very wrong.
What is your stance when it comes to courtesy? Tell us.
I believe that courtesy is not just something we do sometimes. It should be a part of our daily life. We should be polite to everyone even when we are tired angry or in a hurry. Kindness and respect cost nothing but bring a lot of good feelings. I always try to say kind words listen to others and show good manners. If i make a mistake i say sorry. I teachs my younger siblings to do the same i believes that if we all practices courtesy we can make our homes schools and communities more peaceful and loving.
Thank you for reading my post lets all choose to be polites kind and respectful every day. 💐
