In my last report about my journey to become a teacher, I told us that I went for a CBT session and that I scored 47% out of 100%. Well, I had missed feelings whether I will be able to meet the cut-off mark. Ordinarily, at least 50% should have been the cutoff Mark since that represents half. I thought that I had failed. However, I learnt that a lot of persons scored below 40% because of the impromptu nature of the CBT. I had hope anyways though not sure where my hope was based.

After a week, I was informed that I should check my page for news update about the cutoff Mark and interview venue. I had to rush to see if there was hope for me. Upon logging in, I saw the news, the cutoff mark was set at 45%. Wow! It was amazing to me! I became overjoyed that at least, I will be invited to the interview. I also checked and saw my interview date, time and location. Below is the screenshot from my page detailing the information for my interview and all that I needed to take withe for the interview.

My cutoff Mark and interview date, location and time1000515812.jpg

Well, since the interview date was on a Thursday, April 5th, time was 9.30am, I decided to travel to Abia State a day before and to get all the necessary documents ready before that date. That Wednesday, I went out for my fitness, trained my clients and myself. It was supposed to be our football day, but I didn't play. I left the ball for them to play. I then went to the bank to print out my BVN (Bank Verification Number). Then I took a passport since they said it has to be with a white background and I don't have passport with white background. 8 copies cost me a thousand, four hundred (7.7 steem) which was quickly printed out and given to me in just 10 minutes.

Then. I did some photocopies of my documents and arranged them accordingly. Next, I went to a computer centre to print out the page on my home page where I was invited for the interview as well as my exam score that shows that I was qualified for the interview. I was done with all these by 12 noon and then I set out on a journey to Abia State.

I did my best to prepare for the interview that night, and by 6.30 am, I was already set to leave for the interview. I was also given a takeaway plate of food since I won't have the time to eat that morning. That was so kind of the family that cared for me that night.

I boarded a bus to the interview venue which was about 20 to 30 minutes journey. I just wanted to be there earlier so as to familiarise myself with the environment. I didn't even know the venue and as such, I need to search it out on arrival. I didn't want stories. Well, Iet those that were invited for the first batch that morning which was to begin by 7.30 am. They were just going when it was almost 7.30 am. According to them, they will still be allowed in whenever they arrived. They gathered this information for the previous batches who had gone for the interview already. Yes, the interview began on Monday, 3rd April while mine was on the 5th.

On arrival by 8.30 am, yes, there were delays in loading and fuel refilling by the driver, I met a crowd of candidates, waiting for their turns. They were still inviting those for the first batch. I took the following pictures and selfies

I seized that opportunity to get all my documents ready, including attaching my passports on my files, perforating my photocopied documents and attaching them to the file as requested. And guess what? Residents seized that opportunity to do big businesses. What I mean by this is that, they were charging money to perforate documents, to staple them. They also have those who are into photography, taking passports in the case of those who didn't take theirs before coming and whose passports were rejected. It was really a big business there. Imagine stapling my passports for fifty naira (0.28 steem) and perforating my file and documents for four hundred Naira (2.22 steem). Any thing at all you want to do attracts money. But I like it that way since they were there to ensure that we get our things ready especially the ones we might have forgotten to do before coming.

I went in and waited for my batch. By 10 am, they were done with the first batch. It was time for my batch. Names were called but priority was first given to the pregnant and nursing mothers, including the aged. That of the aged was to really find out their real ages since there is age limit on those that can be taken.

Soon, my name was mentioned to cue up and I did. Here is a picture of those on the cue

Then, gradually, I got to the point of seating and waiting for my turn to go in. About 30 seats at a time and we move accordingly. Here is the arrangement on the picture below

Seated, and waiting for our turns1000506659.jpg

One good thing about this interview is that there are a lot of interviewers. Anyone who is free invites a candidate. Before long, I was invited in to meet a lady interviewer. I approached her and asked her if I may seat down. Sje was drinking water, she motioned me to seat. I quickly asked her to give me a drink. She smiled a d said that it was just a bottle.

Then, she requested for my page identity number which I gave her, she requested for my BVN and M NIN (National Identification Number) which I supplied her. Then she was busy filling out the form she had, entering my details as I was providing them. She later asked to view the originals of all my documents which I handed over to her. Next, she took all my photocopies which I already arranged in a file. She just took the file from me.

Then, she asked me 5 questions which I was able to answer 3 of them. I was then excused. That was al I even learnt that so e persons weren't asked any question. Well, I think they have their criteria for selection. That was how I came out, interacted with those who had already been interviewed and I then boarded a bus back to base from where I set out on a journey back to my present city of residence. My picture is below which I took when I was on my way back

I was so tired and hungry. Meanwhile, the food I brought with me was still in my bag but I later had a little of it.

I am now awaiting the result of the interview. I pray I am considered again. It is now left in God's hands now. I am waiting and I will also report if I am taken. Thank you all for reading through. This journey is not an easy one but I believe it's going to be a rewarding one. It is a government employment, meaning that if chosen, I will be a civil servant. I can't wait!

Wow! the stress of scoring 47% and then that relief seeing the cutoff at 45%, what a ride! 😅 From all your prep work to finally making it to the interview, this really feels like a full-circle moment.

Fingers crossed for you! You’ve done everything you could, and now it’s up to the universe (and probably interviewer 😉). Really hope we will see a diary post one where we’re all celebrating your new job!
