A frustrating day in office// 08-09-2025

Today was one of those days I'd rather forget as a businessman. It was a day filled with disappointment and frustration, a day I sincerely felt like I'd lost out. But as I reflected on the events that unfolded, I realized that it was a stark reminder of the importance of being prepared for the unexpected twists and turns that come with running a business.

Just yesterday, I had shared my excitement on this my Steemit blog about the toners I had ordered from Lagos. The waybill arrived on Saturday, and I quickly replaced them and test-run with just few copies as it was late. However, yesterday was Sunday and I didn't open office.

As I started printing today, I noticed that the printouts had a black background stain on the papers. It was a clear sign of a fake or bad toner. I was shocked, as this had never happened before with my supplier in Lagos. I quickly reached out to him, and he asked me to remove the toner unit, clean it, and then fix it back.

I did as instructed, but the problem persisted. I sent him a snapshot of the printed copy, but he didn't respond. I was left with no choice but to continue printing with the stained background. But the machine soon complained of an incorrect toner detection, displaying the black toner on the screen.

That was the final nail in the coffin. The machine refused to print further, and I was left feeling frustrated and disappointed.

I snapped a photo of the machine's display screen and sent it to my supplier, and that's when he confessed that he had bought the toner from his neighbour as he was out of stock. I couldn't believe it. All this time, I had been dealing with someone I thought was a reliable supplier, only to discover that he had compromised on the quality of his products.

As I closed from the office today, I sincerely felt weighed down by the situation. But then I remembered that this is the risk we take as businessmen. We must learn to prepare for odd days, for dangers and disasters that can strike at any time.

We must be resilient and proactive in finding solutions to the challenges that come our way. So, I've made up my mind to find a solution to this problem tomorrow. If it means borrowing or taking a loan to buy another toner, I'll do it. I owe it to my customers to deliver quality products, and I won't let this setback hold me back.

Thank you for going through my post, do have a great time ahead.
