   Hello dear Steemians,

I'm excited to share my entry for this touching and relatable contest. It’s my very first time participating here, and I’m hopeful it turns out well.
A big thank you to bossj23 for organizing such a thoughtful and engaging contest.
I appreciate you taking the time to read my story.

Some relatives don’t come to visit , they come to oppress. My uncle is that kind of visitor.

He’s a marketer who travels a lot, and since we live in a major town, he always stops by to stay in our house. Hotels? No need. After all, he has “family” here. But the moment he arrives, I stop feeling like family. I feel like a prisoner in my own father's house.

He controls everything. He changes the channel, criticizes my clothes, complains I sleep too much, and always says my parents have spoiled me with too much pampering. One time, I was dancing to a hip-hop song in my room , dancing helps me feel free and happy , but he barged in and started shouting. He called me names: “worldly,” “disgraceful,” “prodigal daughter.”

I ran to my parents expecting comfort, but they sided with him. “He’s only trying to raise you right,” they said. What pained me more was that they knew he wasn't perfect. They knew the kind of things he does behind closed doors , even though he parades himself as a “pastor.”

Then came the shocker. One day, he called me aside, looked me straight in the eyes, and said I was beautiful. His voice changed. His hands wandered. He laid his hand on my shoulder, tried to pull me closer, and attempted to kiss me. My whole body froze in fear, but I pushed him away with all my strength.

I knew no one would believe me, so I started recording. Every time he came near me, I hit record. When my parents came home, I showed them the evidence. They were shocked, heartbroken, and deeply ashamed. That was the last day he ever entered our house.

Since then, my trust for some relatives has disappeared. He wasn’t just annoying, he was dangerous. What hurts most is that he wore the mask of religion while trying to destroy me behind the scenes.

Family is supposed to protect, not prey. And I will never forget how I had to protect myself when no one else could.

I want to use this opportunity to invite my friends to also participate in the contest. They're @tempestinyang @nsisong2022 and @mercybliss
