My 5 Hidden Gem Movies:

1. The Booked Thief (2013)

This is a very emotion and heart touch movie. It tell the story of a young girl name Liesel who live in Nazi Germany during World War II. She is sent to live with a foster family and learn to read. She starts stealing books not to harm anyone but because she loves them. She reads to her family and friends during bomb attacks and gives them hope. The most interest thing is that the story is told from the point of view of Death which is very unique.

Why its underrated: Even though the story is power many people dont know about this film. It didnt become popular like other war relate movie. But it show the power of word love and hope in dark time.

2. A Monster Call (2016)

This movie is both magic and emotion. It’s about a young boy Conor whose mother is very sick with cancer. He is scared and lonely. One night a big monster made from a tree visits him and tells him three stories. Each story teach him something about truth pain and letting go. The movie mixe fantasy with real life emotion beautifully.

Why its underrated: The movie didnt become a hit maybe because people didn expect such a deep emotion story. But it made me cry and it taughted me that okay to feel pain and to speaked the truth even when it hard.

One day he finally leaves his office and travels to beautiful places like Iceland and the Himalayas to find a lost photo. Through this journey he becomes confident and free.

4. Flipped (2010)

This is a sweet love story about two young neighbors Juli and Bryce. The story is shown from both their points of view which is interesting. Juli likes Bryce from the beginning but Bryce doesn’t feel the same. As they grow up their feelings start to change. The movie talks about family understanding others and how we learn to see people in a new way.

Why it's underrated: It’s not a noisy teenage movie like others. It’s slow gentle and full of emotion. That’s why it didn’t become very famous but it is very special to anyone who has experienced first love or personal growth.

There are many reasons why these movies did not become famous:

No big actors or expensive action scenes

Some were slow and emotional which some viewers avoid
A few were foreign or indie films and these don’t get attention like Hollywood movies
But these movies are full of real feelings meaningful lessons and beautiful storytelling. They deserve to be seen and celebrated.
