Steem4nigeria Accelerator Contest Week 101: My Tailor and I
Everyone loves to look clean... everyone wants to have their self confidence... What better way to have such a confidence than to look your best. Honestly.. looking good can make a huge difference.. how you dress determines how people view you.
It doesn't mean you should discriminate... but dressing is very important in anyone's social life.
But who is responsible for anyone looking his/her best.... Your Tailor or Seamstress.
Who is a Tailor?
A tailor is basically a male professional who sews clothes... They also create and repairs clothing... most especially for specific Individuals... The make clothings for male like suits and Jackets.
I'm sure the contests also involves females so I'm gonna talk about it. A female who sews, creates, And mends clothes is known as a seamstress.
Most Tailors sew for both male and female which is also the same for Seamstresses.
Most times people mistake Tailors for Fashion designers but there is quite a difference.
Fashion designers don't sew clothes... basically they focus on the designing aspect of of dressing and also rely on tailors to bring those ideas to life...
Actually, one can be a fashion designer and also be a Tailor/seamstress at the same time...
What are some criteria for a good tailor?
Well usually the basic criteria is that you know how to Cut and sew.. 🤣 But there are still important things that I look at for a good tailor/seamstress
He/She should know how to measure a customer... of course this is also a very basic skill any tailor should have... measuring different parts of the body to be able to get the perfect size.
He or she should know how to cut and sew clothes.... it's also a basic skill like I said earlier... To neatly seq clothes properly. He should be able to put allowances in clothes incase the customer increases in size... they shouldn't be too rough... rather smooth stitches that make it look neat.
He/she shouldn't be too rigid with styles.... he should know how to make a garment stand out... even if it is the simplest of patterns, he should have his own style that makes the dress different... this is my own personal requirement.
His shouldn't be rude to customers at all... even if customer is unhappy about a clothing or a style... quietly and calmly discussing terms with it is a blue flag that shows that you know your business.
A tailor should not disappoint.. well sadly that's probably the order of the day now.
This is just a few of the requirements from my perspective...
Have you been disappointed by a tailor before?
Well... I have been disappointed by a tailor a few times. But most important was during my primary five graduation.. I and my mom had met with the tailor and agreed a style... and time to come and get it.
I quite trusted the tailor so to speak.
Well a day to when we were to collect it.. my mom called and she said she is almost done with it.... I was pretty excited. Only to get there and she hadn't even cut the material.... saying she forgot the exact cloth we gave her .
What was your reaction and how did you manage?
It was infuriating because my graduation was the next day and everything was already in motion. But now no dress.... there isn't any tailor that will sew such a sophisticating style of dress in one night.
My mom was visibly angry and showed it... we never went back there again.
What happened then was that we went to a boutique and had to look for a dress... it was hard because I was technically bigger than my age... But I guess we got it sorted out.
Can you recommend your tailor to steemians around? Tell us why we should patronize your tailor. You can include your tailor's outlet environment, the pricing, the customer service, and more. If possible, a picture of your tailor's work.
I can surely recommend my current tailor to steemians around because she is really doing well.
What I really love is that she sews both male and female street wears... Hoodies.. Baggy Pants.... Shorts... I mean any street wear at all for both genders.
Then she also sews normal dresses but for females this time.
She stays at ABA and her clothes are actually affordable...
She sews ready made clothes... and they are really comfortable...
She doesn't just sew... She brands as well
Here are pictures of her work:

Saludos apreciada amiga.
Thanks for your lovely observations dear friend... I truly appreciate.
