Have you ever been caught telling a lie? If yes, can you recall some of those lies and how it affected you positively or negatively?

The first time I lied to my parents occurred during my childhood years and as a child I lied to my parents about finishing homework assignments so I could enjoy outdoor playtime 😄 and the truth eventually surfaced which resulted in being confined to my room for a period of one week. The difficult experience taught me important lessons which turned out to be beneficial. The experience showed me about honesty and responsibility at an early stage of my life. The experience became a life lesson which molded my personality showing me that trust needs both time and hard work to mend after it breaks.

Does it pay to lie? Are deceitful jokes considered as lies?

Lying does not result in any good outcomes when viewed from a long-term perspective because the immediate relief a person gets from lying generally results in trust erosion which sabotages relationships after a lie is uncovered and people generally remember when we lie so restoring our credibility becomes an incredibly difficult task. Evidently the practice of honest communication produces stronger relationships and heightened respect from other people.

A deceptive joke can constitute as a lie based on the purpose behind it and the consequences it produces. Without negative consequences or hurt feelings from the joke and general understanding by all parties of the jest, the deceiving act may not be considered damaging. The act of deceit remains acceptable only if it fails to create confusion yet leads to embarrassment or hurt feelings then it transitions into lying behaviors. Our awareness of both truthful statements and jokes should matter because seemingly insignificant untruths have unforeseen consequences regarding others' perception of our honesty and trustworthiness.

Tell us your experience — The Lie that Saved you.

I remember an obvious experience from my childhood during which I walked alone toward home. Someone stopped in front of me to ask whether I resided in the area and since I felt threatened and I uttered a fast falacy stating that I spent only momentary time in the area and my parents awaited me nearby so I was fortunate because the person decided to go away. My quick deceitful statement protected me from harming danger by giving a wrong address.

The practice of lying usually goes against moral standards yet there exists certain situations where it functions as a safety mechanism. My experience showed me how strong instincts work as triggers to make necessary lies which safeguard your safety. I learned valuable precautions while simultaneously developing better defensive behaviors to protect myself from potential dangerous incidents ahead.

A woman told a customer that the price of a product is worth 100 steems whereas the price of that product is 80 steems, is she lying or doing business?

To be honest the woman presents untrue statements to the customer in this particular case and the foundation of business operations consists of trust together with honesty and fair practices. A business adds markup to make profits but giving false information about original prices marks the boundary of dishonesty but the woman's act of misleading the customer becomes unethical because she intentionally misrepresented the 80 steem value as 100 steems to achieve heightened profits.

Business operations based on ethics should display complete transparency that enables customers to obtain sufficient information before making their decisions. Deceiving about item prices will shatter trust between company and client while creating lasting harm to the business's reputation. Honesty together with fairness and developing robust customer relationships create the foundation for real business achievement.
