A Lie That Saved Me

in Steem4Nigerialast month

Great Nigerian Steemians, it warms my heart to write in your midst again. I'm writing about lies according to the topic assigned by @bossj23. Read as I envisage enlightenment at the end.

Have you ever been caught telling a lie? If yes, did it affect you positively or negatively?

Of course, like every other average human being, I have told a lie before and was caught in the process. It didnt turn out well for me.

It happened when I was having a nap one Saturday afternoon after drying my washed clothes in the morning. Amidst my sleepiness, I could hear my mother's voice shouting that I should go unhang my clothes as I'll be wearing them the next day to church. I managed to mutter a few minutes later after she tried to confirm if I did it that "Mummy I've folded the clothes". She said no more.
About an hour later, a painful slap jolted me from my dreamland. It was my mother shouting at me to my face to scare the sleep completely away. I saw my drenched churchwear and wept. I wore something else to church because of my lies.

Does it pay to lie? Are deceitful jokes considered lies?

Judging from what I've seen and heard, I don't think lying has a good reward. Yes, deceitful jokes are lies.

Tell us your experience. The lie that saved you.

Okay. It happened in school. The Civic teacher had given my class an assignment to submit and we were all two days left. Everyone had forgotten about the assignment. The day the teacher came to get the assignment from us, he held in his hand, a long, scary looking cane, I almost peed on myself😄.

Just then, the teacher was called by the Principal and had to leave the class. This little moment was all I and a few classmates needed. We hurried to our texbooks and copied the answers although shabbily. Then, I went to the teacher's office in his absence and placed the notes on a remote part of his table which couldn't easily be seen. I skedaddled back to my class and pretended with my classmates like we did nothing. When the teacher finally came in, we told him we had submitted our assignments since two days ago. I even offered to help him search his office. There, I showed him the notes in a huge drawer. That was how I got saved from over 6 strokes of that fearsone cane.

A woman told a customer that the price if a product is 100 steems whereas the price is 80 steems. Is she lying or doing business ?

She is lying beacause doing business does not include deceiving customers. It is unheard of for a custoner to be deceived. It should be an abolished act.
