Greetings great Steemians, much respect to @bossj23 for making us cross paths again via the contest Is Poverty Man-made or Life Happens? It is now a thing of growing concern that most people attributes their financial position to several factors including parents, family members, natural occurrences such as accidents, fire outbreak, and even robbery etc.

While others even finds difficulties in identifying and distinguishing a poor person from a lacking person, others are even on the opinion that scamming could be a panacea to poverty. It is based on this premised that this work is set out to answer the following questions

Is Poverty and Not Having Money the Same Thing?
Is Poverty Man-Made or Caused by Life Situations?
A Life Experience Justifying That Poverty is Man-Made or Situational and two causes of poverty in Nigeria
Refusing to Scam People: Is the Person Responsible for Their Poverty or Simply Content?

Is Poverty and Not Having Money the Same Thing?

It is a fact that poverty and not having money points to the fact that one is out of finance. They both presents the fact that one is facing financial hardship which may deter him from taking care of the responsibilities he should be looking after. However, though they point at one direction, their intensities and complexity makes the difference.

While poverty refers to a more permanent and complex situations involving a long term lack of both money and the things that can provide money (assets), Not having money refers to a shorter term condition where someone runs out of money for a short period of time. In a nutshell shell, lack of money could be as a result of a person experiencing unnecessary expenses or loosing his/her work yet, still fully equipped with potentials, skills and asset to strike back while poverty refers to a situation where someone as nothing to do for a living vis-a-vis having potentials of having money within a short time. With these, it is visible that poverty and lack of money are two similar but different phenomena because, as poverty may be permanent, lack of money is always temporary

Is Poverty Man-Made or Caused by Life Situations?

While there exist justification for poverty being both Man-made and situational, there exist a greater difference when comparing the two forces as being causative to poverty. This is because, poverty is largely caused as a result of political, social, economic and cultural factors which intends to restrict individuals access to resources and opportunities and thus possessing the tendencies of providing financial instability.

On the contrary, there is no doubt that certain situations such as illness, death of a bread winner, fire outbreak, robbery, natural disaster can as well contribute immensely to poverty. Going by this, it is obvious that poverty is both a situational and man-made phenomenon though obe of them predominants.

In my opinion, one of the main causes of poverty is corruption. This corruption could be on the part of the government or individual mismanaging funds and resources allocated under their care. With this, if it's in the commercial settings, institutions such as hospitals, schools and adequate infrastructure suffers. The absence of these amenities pushes the society and individual into the realm of darkness called poverty.

The concept of inequality is another cause of poverty. These inequality could be seen on the aspect of bad governance not giving adequate education, job opportunities or grants and capital to all it's citizens. From the aforementioned, though poverty could be caused by both Man-made and life situations, Man-made happens to have greater influence on poverty compared to life situations. Specifically, In my country, the main causes of poverty are:

Corruptionand unemployment
A Life Experience Justifying That Poverty is Man-Made or Situational

Though they are series of stories of people who became poor as a result of fire outbreak, volcano eruption, and accident, I want to tell a story of my childhood friend who was knocked down by poverty as a result of Man-made occurrence. James was my childhood friend whom we attended Primary school together. Despites how brilliant he was, James came from a family where feeding was difficult talk more of buying school facilities. As brilliant as he was, I encourage him to take a scholarship Examination so as to assist him and make him utilize his brilliance. James had no money to pick the form so he had to borrow from a friend.

On the day of the exams it was released that the Exams would take place in a State located about 100kn from his State. James had no money for transport so he planned of giving up and letting the contest pass him by. It was at this point that I borrowed him some money to travel and write the exams. After writing the exams he trekked back kilometers until a known person helped and brought him back in his car.

After the results were published, James came out among the first and he was to fly to Harvard University and begin his study. Things became weird when the company manager demanded that an individual was to pay part of their total money to his account before being given licenses to travel. Because James had no money, he was replaced by someone and today James his a local Farmer. Years passed by and the corrupted manager was also sacked due to his continuous act of covetousness this, making him as poor as a church rat. From this story, it is true that poverty is Man-made.

Refusing to Scam People: Is the Person Responsible for Their Poverty or Simply Content?

It is normal to see people loot and scam others for money in today's circle. While many friendship has been destroyed. Many others have vowed not to trust anyone again so long as life is concerned. All points to the fact that scamming people is gradually becoming a substitute for hard work.

Meanwhile, refusal of someone to get money or items that are not theirs is a reflection of how contented and satisfied such a person is and as nothing to do with poverty. Because, poverty itself in most cases can never be eradicated through scamming and looting of people. This is evidence on the part of people squandering money they call awoof money.

In essence, poverty is not and will never be a justification for practicing scam or something. Rather scamming is a way of stealing and in most instances, stealing is an outward manifestation of what has been conceit in the mind of a selfish person. And of course, a selfish person is always an uncontented person. Going by this, choosing not to scam does not mean accepting poverty, but rather it is the manifestation of inbuilt principles that will most times lead to a fulfilled and financial stabilize life.

I am inviting @dwings, @ali001, and @alexanderpeace to join the contest.
