SLC-S25/W3-Movie Snapshots|Hidden Gems
The result of movie whether hit or flop is known a few days later, but when reviewers start criticizing the movie from Day-1, some movies fail even if they deserved better treatment.
Mention 5 lesser-known or underrated movies you have seen before
I have seen thousands of movies in my life and knew which was a good or bad movie but in some cases I was left amazed. I couldn't see a reason why this movie failed to attract audience even if they deserved a better deal.
I thought hard to select five such movies which should have done better but they under performed.
Let me give you my five:
Serial | Movie | Director | Year |
---|---|---|---|
#1 | Willy Wonka and the chocolate factory | Mel Stuart | 1971 |
#2 | Braveheart | Mel Gibson | 1995 |
#3 | Alita: Battle Angel | Robert Rodriguez | 2019 |
#4 | Hoot | wil shriner | 2006 |
#5 | Showgirls | Paul Verhoeven | 1995 |
My Reason for saying this movie I have mentioned is lesser known or underrated
*1
Willy Wonka and the chocolate factory:
Willy Wonka and the chocolate factory (1971): In my humble opinion this American comedy movie is my first choice for a flop example. It's the standard of that story and characters and is referenced in shows like Hailey's on it and even having the prequel Wonka. which is doubly impressive given there is the more recent and more financially successful Charlie in the chocolate factory.
I think I can do to make this movie better :
I would have focused on publicity and more focus on media. The film had all the good values but the publicity department performed bad.
*2
Braveheart (1995):
This movie flopped hard on it's first release, then rereleased after the Oscar and did better though but I feel it basically flopped because three hours for a historical action movie was a little too much even if Mel Gibson gave his best. It’s cool to be remembered.I think I can do to make this movie better :
Honestly if I were the director of the movie I would have done a few changes to make money. If I was the maker I would rather make it a little differently. The director should have known how to keep the cinema goers stay in their seats.
*3
Alita: Battle Angel (2019):
I saw this movie in a local cinema hall that was almost empty. This movie flopped in certain areas especially mine although it performed competitively better in few Asian countries like China and Hongkong.I think I can do to make this movie better :
I would have turned it nto a professional movie but they failed and the critics helped Alita go bankrupt. It was kind of part of pop culture of present times. Spectators did not go to theaters but I felt this movie should have done better. Maybe it was due to the trolls and even the media presentation of it. I would bring them in my favor.

*4
Hoot (2006):
Hoot is one of the worst movies box office wise but personally I liked the movie. It's a group of three Young boys trying to stop a fast food restaurant to be built over a nest of burrowing owls their favorite to go to spot in their neighborhood.
I think I can do to make this movie better :
But I felt that even the most interesting figure in the movie the agent Colson as the villain and he's really fantastic but the movie fell on its face. It was a nice movie which should have done better. I would have extended the role of this actor.

*5
Showgirls: 1995:
This film was released in "Showgirls" (1995) and it fell flat at the box office. It was a nice movie but probably its rating had to undone it. Also the bunch of negative reviews were to be blamed which kept audience away.
I think I can do to make this movie better :
If you ask me I liked Verhoeven’s movies and as this had a message, but probably a rigged woman was not acceptable to the crowd. I guess the heroin of the movie thought she was doing good but she was just not doing enough. You know the man chauvinists do not like woman doing better than them so the film did not do as much it should have done. The game of power remains with the men and I am saying this as a man and being a feminist.

The importance of movie reviews is that no matter how poorly done a movie is or how great a work of art it is, if people are watching it, it is worth its bread and salt but if people don't want to watch a movie however good or entertaining, that enlightens and informs, goes waste.
I am giving my real and unbiased opinion in this contest started by @ruthjoe which is a work of art in itself.
At this point I would like to invite @ninapenda @josepha and @solaymann to participate in SLC-S25/W3- Movie Snapshots| Hidden Gems.
Thank you for participating in this challenge of season 25.
Wow, thanks for your kind review. It came from out of the blue for my humble effort 🎉
I’m very surprised you said brave heart flopped. This movie made me cried. I’ve always been a fan of action movies, so for me, it was perfect.
Alita, battle angel was another action movie I enjoyed as well..
You did but they fell flat on their faces in global scenario. I have mentioned it somewhere that some of these did well in certain regions but overall they did not recover their cost or did not do as expected.
