Newcomers' Tutorial: How to Check and Correct Grammatical Errors in your Post Before Publishing it.
Greetings to everyone reading this post. It's not as if I ran out of content before coming up with this write-up. The law of reciprocating is just ringing bells. Gone are the days when we used to complete at least 3 achievement tasks before we were seen fit to create content as a newcomer in other communities. These achievement tasks groomed and trained us into learning and upholding the ethics and codes of content writing.
Unfortunately, it wrapped up overtime due to certain reasons, which I believe was wise by the team. The level of plagiarism and AI usage then was limited, and people had a fair knowledge. Users could navigate the platform to a certain level without having mentors because it was a training ground.
The past is gone, long gone. We're in the future, and I'm opting to host tutorials for newcomers so they can be informed the way we were informed 3 years back. My goal is to help newcomers from different countries create quality content on this platform and also build their blog effectively. This includes;
teaching them how to write or start content
the essence of growing one's account through power up
consistent writing, engagements and participation in content
rules and etiquette of this platform
content formatting
teaching them how to set a target and achieve it
teaching them how to become successful content writers even after their grace periods
encouraging them to see writing as a means to educate and inform and not just about the votes that are attached.
teaching them the dos and don'ts
and a lot more.
To kickstart, I'll start with what everyone seems to overlook, which is an essential part of content writing: Grammar. Most users just write for the pay regardless of how their content appears. They rush to write and submit entries without checking if there are errors in their writing. They find it time-consuming to proofread. Sad to say, all newcomers are victims of this. They need to be informed. How can you as a newcomer and old user correct your grammar before posting?
To those who say proofreading is time-consuming and difficult, technology has eased our work by coming up with a checker that can correct our grammar and place punctuation, full stops and other concord agreement parts where necessary. This is one of the Checkers that's convenient to use.

How to use? |
---|
Before posting your content on Steemit, it is advised to use this checker to correct your grammar to prevent situations where readers would find your post repulsive. I know we're imperfect, but let's try and remember using this checker before posting and applying markdown styles.
- Step 1 : Copy the text you want to post. If possible, don't apply markdown styles yet. Once you're done checking, you can apply.
- Step 2: Tap on the link Grammar Checker. It would take you to a page where you'll see a big box, demanding you paste that text you copied. Once you're done pasting your text, allow it to load for some time to see the errors in your post. Once these are visible, you can choose to do two things.
![]() | ![]() |
---|
- Step3: Click on Fix all and it will automatically erase all your errors. But there are implications. There are some words or slang the checker is not used to. It may correct it based on what is closed. So to avoid this, it is best if you manually fix your errors. How?
![]() | ![]() |
---|
- Step 4: Tap on the text that is underlined in red. Once you do so, you'll be given two options: to accept the correction or ignore it. If it's a word you feel shouldn't be corrected, you can ignore. Then, to those you feel should be corrected and are grammatically wrong, you click on accept and the correction.
![]() | ![]() |
---|
- Step 5: Once you're done fixing your errors, copy the whole text. How? Don't click on the copy icon; otherwise, it will enclose your paragraphs and make your text jam-packed. Just highlight a text, click on the three dots in the copy options and then click on select all. Once you select all, you cut and paste in your posting page. You can then apply markdown styles.
![]() | ![]() |
---|
Note: This correction is limited to words and punctuation. Concord and sentence construction aren't involved. You'll need to subscribe to the checker to get this feature. For now, we'll be working on using the checker.
All newcomers are guilty of this. So you must always check your post before uploading it on steemit. These are a few examples 👇🏽

So ,in this regard, she needed some ducks for some research work, so my brother had brought ducks from somewhere, the children were very happy to see the ducks. May Allah grant my sister success ( Ameen). I sat with my father for a while. Father was preparing to Huqqa (a kind of smoking). I lit coal for my father's Huqqa and my father started smoking it. Father does not smoke much because he is a heart patient. We are trying our best to make him stop smoking pipe, but he is not ready to get rid from it. | So, in this regard, she needed some ducks for some research work, so my brother had brought ducks from somewhere; the children were very happy to see the ducks.
