Alimentary Canal of A Human being
Greetings my dear steemians, how are you all, hope you guys are doing just great, today i will be talking about the alimentary canal of a human being.
Firstly Alimentary canal here can be defined process where by all the organs are involved in the process of digestion. Alimentary canal can also be called Digestive system, or Digestive Tracts.
Now that we all know the meaning of alimentary canal we will then go to the parts involved in an Alimentary canal of human beings. They are;
✓ Mouth
✓ Pharynx
✓ Oesophagus
✓ Stomach
✓ Intestine
- Small and the large intestine
✓ Rectum
✓ Anus
Explanation;
Mouth; it is the first opening of the alimentary canal in which food is being passed through. It has a buccal cavity, inside the vocal cavity, the food is being granded by the teeth and mixed with their salivary gland. At this stage the food is not as bolus.
Pharynx; let's say pharynx is a wide opening that is next and very close to the mouth. It has muscular wall that performs the peristatic movements. It is a short, muscular tube which connects the mouth to the Oesophagus.
Oesophagus; oesophagus is a straight, long narrow and muscular tube that passes into the stomach. No digestion take place in the oesophagus
Stomach; it is a sack-like structure found next to the oesophagus. It is a very muscular structure. It turns and makes food into a paste-like form called chyme. Then the chyme is then passed into the intestine.
Small intestine; It is the longest part of the alimentary canal, in which digestion and absorption of food takes place.
Large intestine; It is shorter but wider tube to the comparison of the small intestine.
Rectum; it is muscular organ attached to the descending colon. It serves for the temporary store of faeces.
Anus; this is the last opening of alimentary canal through which faeces in egested through the body.
