Your Losses in Life
A wonderful day to all my friends out there. Trust you are all doing great. Each one of us have at a point in time lost something or someone precious or dear to us. It could be family members, loss of job, or even health. So this contest is about that.
The contest topic will be a guide to writing more on this.
###. What have you lost in life that made you cry or feel distressed? Could be inanimate or animate. Narrate your experience
In life, distressing situations and times are faced at several points in time same as beautiful moments. However, it seems that the bad times are difficult erasing from the memory.
I have faced many of these bad times, but the one that seems unforgettable was when I lost my job.
Being a family head of 4 and coming from a family of eight with aged parents, I am aware of the responsibilities on my shoulder.
So when I lost the job, it was as if the world not just stopped but ended. My family was still very tender.
Sometimes, I wake up when everyone is asleep and cry out my heart. Always thinking about what the next day would be. It was really a distressing point in my life, always asking myself what does the future hold?.
Did you blame yourself for the loss or were you meant to lose that thing? How did the losses affect you?
When problems occur, the first thing that comes to your mind is what would you have done better to avert the problem from happening. Thus comes the issue of self guilt, blaming yourself for what happened. If care is not taken depression may set in. However in this case, there is nothing that I would have done. Anything to be done would involve serious compromises.
The loss had a negative impact on me. It affected my financial, emotional and mental well-being.
If not for the assistance of my loving wife, family members and some well-meaning friends, it would not have been easy to keep up with life after the loss.
###Were you able to let bygones be bygone or are you still in pain for the loss?
There is nothing more to do than to let it go and act as if it never happened. But the truth is that often times, I recall the incident and wished it never happened. This is even more so when you see the things you would have done, but unable to do so. The pain is not as much as it was when it happened.
What advice would you give the public who may have lost something or someone precious to them?
First, they should not be consumed by guilt, rather let it go even though it not always easy.
Secondly, in every bad situation, there is a positive lesson you can learn from it. Pick up the lesson and move ahead.
Thirdly, any bad situation faced is an opportunity to cultivate a precious and essential quality which you never had. It could be patience, kindness, something you never had.
Life does not move in straight line, if it does, then something is wrong. You definitely have ups and downs in life, but for any downs, You can always rise up once more. There is no limit to getting up.
