"Let’s get started!"

Have you ever been caught telling a lie? If yes, can you recall some of those lies and how it affected you positively or negatively?

Absolutely! Just Like many others out there, I've found myself being caught in a few white lies, not just because I wanted to hurt anyone at all, but mostly my intentions was to avoid unnecessary troubles for myself and certainly a one not to cause problems to others in process.

  • One time like that, I told my boss, "I’m just around the corner, almost at the shop," when truthfully, I had just entered a keke (tricycle) and I'm about ten minutes away.
The Positive impact to my actions was It saved my salary for the month — because lateness was a big offense as at the time.
Also, I did had few of Negative impact here, the guilt of lying did lingered in me for a few hours, and the speed at which I rushed nearly made me trip over myself. So most of the time, lies do comes from fear, not because of wickedness.

Does it pay to lie? Are deceitful jokes considered as lies?

Honestly to some point, lying may save you in the moment, but believe it when i say it often plants seeds of distrust. Though a
there will be a Short-term gain, but if been repeated, brings a long-term loss.

"For a Deceitful jokes?"
Yes, I'll add to it as they're still lies even if it j
is being coated with laughter.
Just imagine telling someone their wallet is missing when it isn’t, just for laughs. The panic being cause is real. So Lies, even as jokes, must be weighed more carefully.
Because truth, even when it's tough, builds stronger bonds than a sugar-coated deceit.

Tell us your experience — The Lie that Saved you

One of my recent and unforgettable moment was during my school teaching practice.
I obviously had forgotten to mark a classwork book, So when my class teacher arrived unannounced and asked, "Have you finished the marking?"
I confidently replied, "Yes, I already submitted it to the staff room earlier."
Guess what?
He smiled softly and said, "Good! That’s professionalism."
I immediately ran down to the staff room, marked the books 📚 in the way a speed of light will travel, and placed them neatly on the table.
That lie really saved me from a disciplinary report, but obviously it also taught me a big lesson: Which is Always be prepared. Because not every day will luck bail you out!

A woman told a customer that the price of a product is worth 100 steems whereas the price of that product is 80 steems, is she lying or doing business?

IMG_20250427-134443.png

If a woman sells a product that's worth 80 steems but tells her buyer it’s 100 steems, is she lying?
Here’s the truth about this:

  • In my opinion, if the 80 steems includes her own profit of the product, and she's selling at 100 steems, she's obviously being dishonest, because she inflates the price so unfairly.
However, if that very product’s cost price is 80 steems and she then adds her genuine business profit to make it 100 steems, then she is simply doing a business. Profit-making is obviously not lying — it's called entrepreneurship!
The difference lies in her intention: cheating versus earning.

Conclusion

Lies though may sometimes shield us, but they can never I mean build a strong foundation.
While a harmless lie might really save us once, living a more truthfully life saves us forever.
The truth might be most times heavy at first, but it certainly leads to a lighter heart and greater respect in the long run.
So Amalways remember: "A temporary escape through using lies is nothing compared to the permanent peace that truth brings."

I invite my Distinguish friends: @edu-chemist, @ngoenyi and @chant.
