- Just last week, I reported about flood in uyo on this platform. Could you believe that this week the flood crisis at Abak Road in Uyo has indeed taken a more dangerous turn, leaving us the residents deeply concerned. Over this past week, the situation has really worsened significantly, with some places experiencing stagnant water covering the larger portions of the road and nearby areas that turns out to look like a River rather than a land. Commuters and pedestrians now struggle on a daily basis, most especially during rainfall, as the water level rises and only becomes more difficult to cross.

The drainage system on this axis remains blocked, and of course no visible steps have been taken by the relevant authorities nor patriotic citizens to address the problem. Several business owners along this road have complained about the lost of customers and water-damaging of goods, while some residents do also fear for possible health risks from the contaminated floodwater.
“We are all tired,” says a local shopkeeper. “This road is only becoming a river as days passes. Government should come and help us.”

Despite the whole public outcry, There's no clear intervention as seen so far. The absence of the proper water channels and poor maintenance of the existing drainages remain a major cause of this crisis.

In Conclusion,
There is need for an urgent rescue by either the government attention, community awareness, giving a lasting solutions. If nothing is been done, the situation may only leads to bigger disasters and displacement of residents in the nearest future.
I invite @spektro223, @rossnenye and @ngoenyi to please key in an advice and thought about this situation.

Abak road in Uyo Akwa Ibom State Nigeria has a minor flooding challenge only if government will take it up, but your report doesn't show where precisely the situation because between that ukana offot axis it use to be heavily over flooded.
I pray the present government will do something about it.
It painful
The precise location i took the picture is from ukana offot traffic light, down to Nepa line including streets like port Harcourt streets, Nkemba and the rest.
talking about minor, the food doesn't look minor anymore 😔
This is something the government should really look into, the flood is getting worse and from the look of things it may be bad than this. Thanks for sharing this report

MOD Comment/Recommendation:
It wasn't a small rainfall that day with immense wind that spoiled a lot of things. I went home late that night and had to trek to my house because of the prices these bus drivers placed. Was too high, higher than normal. Thanks for sharing

@basil20 it's so sad hearing this. I can really understand what is going on. I was once a resident of these type of locality. But at least government should look into it because, the more the area is flooded the more the people leaving in the locality will be scarce. These will surely leads to poor growth or development in the society. But , however I believe something will be done very soon.
