That day remains etched in my memory as one of the most frustrating travel experiences of my life. I was so furious and disappointed that I ended up using my own money to get home😔. The experience was so unforgettable that I've decided to share it as part of this contest about worst travel experiences. Let's dive into the story by answering the following questions...

Do you also love traveling and what kind of traveling do you do? (Business, vacation, visit etc).

I love traveling.

I love visiting. For many years, I've been traveling with my family and Christian congregation to villages in Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria, to share the good news of God with those who haven't heard it. We embark on this mission twice a year, first, from March to April, to invite people to commemorate Jesus' death, and again from August to September, to encourage villagers to worship Jehovah, the one true God.

Recently, I traveled to Okobo Local Government Area in Akwa Ibom State with my Christian congregation to invite people to commemorate Jesus' death, which took place on April 12, 2025. During our visit to the Okobo village, we reached out to various communities, including OTONSAI and OTOKO, sharing the message with the locals, and spreading invitation flyers.

With my friends spreading invitation in OKOBO village.

Our visit to the village was truly rewarding. With the help of my friends who volunteered to join me, we successfully invited over 80 villagers to commemorate Jesus Christ's death, a milestone never achieved before in that village. The experience was incredibly fulfilling, and I'm already looking forward to our next visit, scheduled for August to September.

What is your worst traveling experience, share with us.

That day i mentioned earlier in my post that remains etched in my memory as one of the most frustrating travel experiences of my life was on 10th March 2025. This is what turned that day's travel into my worst experience. I woke up on Monday morning feeling happy, expecting a routine day working on a small construction site with my colleagues. But then, I received an unexpected call from my boss, asking me to meet him at the nearest junction, we were apparently heading out to work together.

I was sad hearing whispers that we were bound for Ika Local Government Area.

I left the house without packing anything, assuming we'd return in the evening as usual. After meeting my boss at the junction as planned, I waited in his car for the rest of my colleagues to arrive so we could head out as a team. Once they arrived, I started hearing whispers that we were bound for Ika Local Government Area in Akwa Ibom State, a destination I wasn't prepared for🥺.

The trip was a nightmare. Not only did I not pack my clothes and essentials, but the living conditions were unbearable.

The dirty rubber we used in making garri.
The watery soup we ate for 2 weeks.

We had to use dirty rubber, previously used for cement mixing, to prepare garri due to a lack of clean utensils. The soup was watered down to make it last longer.

Working late at night till 10pm.

Working late nights, often till 10 pm, exposed me to swarms of mosquitoes😢, feeding on me as their dinner. After enduring this for two weeks, I managed to save enough money to pay my way back home to Uyo. In hindsight, I deeply regret embarking on that trip.

Was the cause of the experience something you could have avoided or it's something you didn't see coming at all?

It's something I didn't see coming at all, because my master didn't inform me that we'll be travelling that Monday morning to Ika Local government area. Leaving the house to meet him is my normal routine, so I thought it'll be as usual, returning back home at 6 pm after work at the site. Had it been he informed me earlier that we'll be traveling, I would've avoided it, or better still , prepare for it.

Is there any advice or tips you would love to give to your readers about traveling?

Dear readers, I'm sure you've raed my worst traveling experience and how I landed there. Let me blame myself at first, had it been I asked questions before leaving the house to meet my boss, maybe the truth about the urgent traveling would've been told, and I would've pack some necessary things I'll be needing for the trip. Here's my kindly advice.....

Either you're traveling alone, with friends, family or your boss like I did, please ask questions so that you know where and how long the trip will take for early preparation. If you're going for a vacation or a business trip, do well to reach out to people who have been there before and inquire about the atmosphere, tradition, cost of living and the likes of them. If you can get information about where you're going to, believe me, you'll enjoy your trip, and you'll not have worst traveling experience.

I'd like to invite @ulfatulrahmah @sergeyk and @josepha to participate in this contest

Saludos apreciado amigo. Puedo imaginar esos viajes llenos de fé y esperanza en Dios. Cuándo era niño fui a viajes de evangelización y eran muy buenos. Todo lo relacionado con Dios deja buenos beneficios. Te deseo éxitos y bendiciones

Your traveling experience was a terrible one. I can't imagine myself eating such a meal but I know you had no choice. It was horrible, of course next time you would make the necessary enquiries.

Yes dear, I've learnt a lot, though it wasn't my fault. I blame my boss. Thanks for your comment.

You are welcome.
