What would have happened to me if...?
“Those who cannot change their minds cannot change anything.” — George Bernard Shaw.
Now I come to the decision that changed my life. At 26, I was qualified to join a multinational and I already had a place on the state badminton team, which made my life easier when I got selected at a multinational as a trainee engineer of my choice. What’s more, even my friend of two years was also in the same batch that got selected in the same company. She was full of hope, but I am not so sure why I did not have the same feelings for her as she had for me.
Here is that turning point and the decision that changed my life. I was surprised about my decision that I took while talking to the HR manager about my choice of going to the marketing department rather than staying in the production department that I was chosen for.
Surprisingly, I got the sanction for joining the marketing department, but at what price? Now I had to complete studies in a business school and welding technology on a stipend before joining the marketing team for two years.
I was so ambitious about traveling over the world, and the choice of joining the marketing team was my dream, and only this could fulfill my dream. Now I feel that was not a bad idea, but that was a tough time for sure. I wanted to believe and accomplish all the things I planned for my future.
Meanwhile, I did not like the way I discouraged the girl that was interested in going to the US for further studies but joined the same company as I did. I refused her proposal, which disappointed her in a big way, but I had chosen a different path.
Now had been writing about this for a long time and I also know that it will not make me famous, but I have something in me that makes me stay firm on my decision and to make my world happening and do something I care about. After all, I spent time with her and had a nice time together, but she was not for me.
“By changing nothing, nothing changes.” — Tony Robbins
The most loving part of my life is that I do whatever makes me happy or excited. I keep it that way because life is supposed to be all about discipline and sacrifice. I am aware that I did everything to live a disciplined life in school and back home, trying to keep my parents happy even if they were not, at least not all the time.
I tried my best, though, proceeding through their desires and finally obeying them as much as I could within my limits, which it needed to, with joy, love, and whatever made me feel happy and proud.
I recall at this point that I faced several situations in my life in the form of social pressure and even economic pressure, but I came out of them as I came out of parental pressure. Pressures are part of human life, so I knew that they give all of us an opportunity to define ourselves.
The pressures, I say it again are part of human life that force us to change our decisions if the situation demands so. But some of these decisions change our lives forever, as my decision to go from manufacturing to marketing did.
As you said we often feel what would have happened if I had taken a different decision, I would not get the chance to see the world but would be still working as a 9-6 worker.
