Contest: Believing is a Right and Respecting is a Duty.
- Hola amigos, it is my pleasure to be part of this week's contest. Our religion is one our priority and we should take it seriously by making sure that we accept everyone beliefs and work together only by this way can we achieve a lot as a country and a nation.
- Can you freely manifest your religion in your country?
My country Nigeria is a country which support the freedom of religion. This therefore means that I can freely practice and manifest my religion. In Nigeria there are three main religion which are Christianity, Islam and African traditional religion. I am a Christian who in particular is a Catholic. I worship at ST James chapency AFI barracks. Christians are known to worship the lord God and believe in his son Jesus Christ who was sent by his father to come into the world in other to save man kind. Christians go to church everyday and they major of worship is Sunday which is the Sabbath. Easter, Christmas and the new year celebration are the common celebration which the christian take part in yearly.
The Christmas celebration is done in other to remember the day our savior Jesus Christ was born into the world to save us all, this celebration consist of going to the church to worship God after that we all give one another gifts rejoicing for the birth of the savior of the world. The Easter celebration is a celebration which comes up after Lent which the holy church remembers the suffering and death and resurrection of our lord Jesus Christ. We celebrate his death and resurrection in other to remember how our salvation come about, Christ died that our sins might be forgiven.
The new year celebration which other religions also celebrate but is highly regarded by the Christians is a celebration of thanking the all might for the grace of seeing the new year and also asking him guide us during this year to continue to praise him all the days of our life.
- Have you experienced or experienced rejection for your religious beliefs?
- I have never experienced rejection for my religions believe because my country is a United one. We all live in harmony respecting everyone's believes and traditions. I have never been rejected. The only we care about is peace even those that have been to testify that we love one another irrespective of religion.
- Have you heard of a case or incident where the right to freedom of religion has been violated?
- I just which you could come to Nigeria a see for yourself. They will never force you to worship your God as a Christian or muscle because it is already written in the constitution of Nigeria that all citizen have freedom to any religion of they choice. Which means even if you calf a stone to worship Nigerians will not have time for you when everyone is busy trying to earn cash, they can only advice you to not worship as a traditional worshiper but if you refuse they will allow you continue with your decision.
- This is a right which Nigerians see as a choice because the almighty himself can allow you to worship what ever you wish, who are they to stop you. This freedom of religion has never been violated before in my presence neither have I heard about such act. I don't think that the violation of this right should occur in any county because we are all mature to know what it best for us.
- Believing is a right, and respecting is a duty... But is this enforced?
I will actually agree with phrase which says "Believing is a right, and respecting is a duty". This phrase is practically telling I and you that the freedom to religion and believe what ever you know is your right. The statement "Believing is a right, and respecting is a duty" points out the fundamental human right to make a choice of one's own belief and that is a most to respect those believes, even if they differ from your own believes.
Belief is a right in the essence that everyone has the freedom to uphold their own beliefs, be it religions, philosophical or otherwise, without any interference or coercion from others. This is on of the freedom which stands as the cornerstone of other human rights. The other one which says that respect is a duty means that the same way individuals have rights to their beliefs, other have a duty to respect those beliefs, wether they like it or not.
This is particularly talks about staying out of mockery, discrimination or any act of insults or harassment based on some else beliefs. Respecting everyone's beliefs is necessary for the creation of community growth and fostering social harmony.
- Do you think the authorities in your country enforce freedom of religion?
- The anchorites in My country has enforced the freedom of religion right from the previous during the changing of several constitution. I suggest that we all should accept everyone believe and live in harmony in other to sustain the economy and continue to grow.
I will like to invite
