It was a side view of the shop

In today’s post, I’ll be sharing my visit to another machine repair shop inside the Saidpur Railway Workshop, known as the C&W Machine Workshop. This shop handles important tasks such as wheel cutting, wheel repair, wheel greasing and wheel fitting. Compared to some of the other sections, this one felt quite busy and active, reflecting the essential railway wheel work being done here.

Some wheels near the C & W Machine Shop

As I walked near the C&W Machine Shop, I noticed some abandoned railway wheels lying nearby. Right next to the entrance, a few wheels were placed like monuments, one was a BG (Broad Gauge) spoke wheel, and the other was an MG (Meter Gauge) spoke wheel. After taking a moment to look at them, I stepped inside the massive shop. Just like most sections of the railway workshop, there were emergency contact numbers posted near the entrance. These are displayed to ensure quick action during any unexpected situations inside the workshop.

How wheel cutting machine works

Inside the shop, I saw a large number of railway wheels, machines, and cylinders spread across the space. What caught my attention most were the wheel cutting machines, there were several of them, some modern, while others looked very old and unused. I watched as one man operated a wheel cutting machine, and I found myself wondering how it all worked. The size, sound, and sharp movement of the machines made them seem a bit dangerous to me, but it was fascinating for me to observe from a safe distance.

I also saw many vacuum cylinders in this large workshop. To be honest, I’m not entirely sure how these cylinders are installed in a train, but I learned that they’re kept here for repairing and maintenance. Vacuum cylinders play a very important role in the braking system of trains, helping to initiate the brakes and ensure safety during operation.

Exit of C & W Machine shop

After exploring the C&W Machine Shop, I walked toward the exit point, and the structure there felt quite old and vintage to me. Honestly, it looked like something straight out of a movie scene. I couldn’t help but think that this railway workshop would make an excellent filming location for historical or industrial-themed movies.

Overall, it was a wonderful and memorable visit, and I truly enjoyed observing the behind-the-scenes world of railway machinery.

I am inviting @pea07, @helengutier2 & @ae-arfin to take part in the contest.
