It was October 15th, a Vap Poya day. About 7 a.m., a yellow TATA lorry filled with rice bags stopped at the entrance to the Galadari Hotel. The security personnel at the entrance didn't remove the barrier as it came suddenly without warning; it must be they had some doubt.

The person who got down from the lorry requested to clear the barrier of the gate in pure Sinhala, but the security soldiers delayed the action. The armed assassins who hide in the bushes wearing dark clothing come into action at this moment. Three retired army security guards were shot and killed instantly.

The truck crashed into the wall between the World Trade Center and the Galadari Hotel, breaking through the barrier as the terrorists with their death bombs opened fire in all directions.

While the four terrorists wearing suicide vests fired from every side, the lorry hit the wall between the Galadari Hotel and the World Trade Centre, breaking the vehicle that acted as the barrier.

The driver got out of the vehicle and quickly joined the other attackers. After a few minutes, the bomb lorry detonated, making a big noise. Many buildings and people were damaged due to this. Not only locals but also foreigners were wounded due to this.

The terrorists who committed this attack fled through the Lotus Road. The chief incumbent, Ven. Vitharadeniye Chandrajothi Nayake Thera, who walked to the entrance to see what was going on, was hit on the leg by gunfire. When he fell, he died on the spot from the hand bomb attack done by a terrorist.

By this time, the Army's QRT (Quick Reaction Team), a specialized group trained for emergency deployment using trailer motorcycles, rushed to the scene. They fired at the terrorists, and the terrorists died. Some terrorists fled and, crossing the railroad, ran to the Lake House side. When one of our army soldiers tried to catch the collar of a terrorist, he tried to blast the bomb he was wearing. When our soldier noticed this, he fired at him, and he died.

The rest of the four terrorists rushed to the lake house and seized it, and held some 20 employees hostage. When a terrorist was searching for water to drink, one hostage fled and informed the army of the situation.

Later, amidst the lot of fighting and dying, the situation was managed by the army.

Tell your kids that today we are enjoying such freedom thanks to our hero soldiers. our hero soldiers.

( today we are enjoying such freedom thanks to our hero soldiers. )Over the years many have died for noble causes leaving an indelible mark on history. Currently, drones are replacing these soldiers, deaths are decreasing and it could even end, but the ideal would be to live in peace, unfortunately we will NOT see this, years and years of fighting and collateral damage throughout them.

That is our misfortune, friend. Thanks for reading and your kind feedback.
