Tech Blog #229 | Realme 15 Pro : Meaningful Updates...
Realme wasn't doing that great with their #Realme numbers lineup. So they brought a Pro+ version so they could show that something is going on in the #midrange category. Most of #smartphone enthusiasts loved that move. But you know, sometimes you have to challenge the norm to make a change. So Realme brought the goods in Pro+ to the Pro.
So, probably there won't be a Realme 15 Pro+ this time around. But we have the Realme 15 Pro with the essence of the Pro+. In my terms, it has done a few things better than last year's Pro+. Let's see what those things are.
The Realme 15 Pro has upgraded durability standards, including IP69 dust & water resistance with military standard ruggedness. It was seen in flagships and most Motorola smartphones, and it's better to see Realme catching up with the good points. Also, it has shifted the big, rounded camera island to a more standard back camera setup, which may appeal to a mass audience.
The display is upgraded to a 6.8-inch 144Hz OLED display. Its brightness could go up to 1650nits in auto mode, which makes it fairly visible under direct sunlight. Another standout feature is having 4608Hz PWM dimming, which eases the eye when working under low brightness levels.
The processor has also been updated quite handsomely to a Snapdragon 7Gen4 from Snapdragon 7s Gen 3. It's like 30% performance upgrade compared to the last generation. It is also built on a 4nm node, so a power efficiency upgrade can also be expected. It will also be helped by UFS 3.1 storage and LPDDR5X RAM. It also features a vapor cooling chamber to sustain the performance by temperature management.
The camera setup has its upgrades and downgrades. I think overall it's a win. The telephoto camera is gone this time. But with that, it received a new 50MP sensor for the main cam, a 50MP ultrawide cam instead of an 8MP mediocre one. But the ultrawide unit misses autofocus capability. There's also a depth sensor on the back, probably not useful. And the front cam also gets an upgrade to a 50MP, which uses the same sensor as the ultrawide cam.
A massive battery upgrade was obvious this year. The Realme 15 Pro gets a whopping 7000mAh battery this time. It supports 70W fast charging, which comes inside the box, and it fully charges within an hour. With all these going on, it's just 187g in weight and 7.8mm in thickness. That's madness.
So, the Realme 15 Pro brings a lot of goodness to the table. And it checks most of the boxes of a regular buyer. So buyers could consider the Realme 15 Pro rather than spending more for a flagship.
