In some marriages, the husband-wife bond is kind of complex. Some keep secrets, not about the bad things they've done, but about the things that their partner won't allow but had done anyway, kind of things. It's not cheating, I guess. It's like doing it out of curiosity. And sometimes, that curiosity could lead to the end of the marriage, too. And this #movie is quite an example.
"On Swift Horses" is a #romantic #drama movie that was released recently on VOD after a brief theatre run. The movie takes place in the 1950s. Daisy Edgar-Jones, Will Poulter, and Jacob Elordi play main roles here. Distribution rights were acquired by Sony Pictures Classics so it's always be more centric in VOD release.
Talking about the story, Muriel & Lee were living a happy life in Kansas at Muriel's mother's house after Lee returned from the war. One morning, Lee's brother, Julius, came unexpectedly, returning from the war, too. Lee's & Julius's plan was to honorably discharge from the force and with the discharge pay, they planned of leaving to California.
Anyway, they moved away from Kansas to California. Muriel works at a motel, and Lee works in a factory. Julius moved away from them to Las Vegas as he was good with cards and gambling. Lee always wanted to buy a house in California and wanted Muriel to sell her mother's house to pay for it.
In the interim, Muriel overhears two professional gamblers who bet on horse racing talking about their betting strategies. Since it was tight with money, she thought of going to bet on horses, and she did it, but she didn't tell Lee about it. She wanted to do by herself. And just like that she won a big amount of money.
In the meantime, she kept in contact with Julius and sent some money too. Since the gambling part is going well, Muriel lied of selling her house and gave Lee money earned by gambling to buy a new house. So will they be able to live in the new house happily? It's up to you to find out.
When I saw this trio in casting, I thought something vulgar would happen. But the story takes an unexpected direction from what was expected. It is slowly burning with time and is worth your time.
