Carmichael College, Rangpur (Banglades)

First of all, I would like to thank @damithudaya sir for organizing such a beautiful contest. And today I am going to post about my favorite place, Carmichael College. So let's get started.

Carmichael College is the largest and most traditional college in the northern part of Bangladesh. It is also called the Oxford of the North. This huge institution is located on 206 acres of land in the Lalbagh area of ​​Rangpur. It was founded in 1916 by the then Magistrate Collector J. N. Gupta. And this college is named after Lord Baron Carmichael. Currently, this Carmichael College is a college of the National University under the Dinajpur Education Board.

However, from 1917 to 1947, it was under the jurisdiction of the University of Calcutta. After that, it was under the jurisdiction of the University of Dhaka from 1947-1953. Then it was under the jurisdiction of the University of Rajshahi from 1953-1992. Since then, it has been under the jurisdiction of the National University under the Dinajpur Board and has remained so till now. Currently, about 22 thousand students are studying in this educational institution. However, I do not study in this educational institution. But since I live in the Lalbagh area of ​​Rangpur, I go to Carmichael College every week and have a great time. A college campus worth visiting.

If you walk north from Lalbagh intersection, you will see the main gate of Carmichael College. After entering through the main gate of the college, you will see a huge mahogany garden. Even in the scorching sun, there is shade in this mahogany garden. And currently, new leaves have grown on the mahogany tree, which makes it look even more beautiful. Every day, many students come to this mahogany garden to rest and chat. If you go a little further, you will see the administrative building of the college. And in front of this administrative building, there is a Liberation War memorial sculpture and behind it there are two big trees. This Liberation War memorial sculpture is surrounded on all sides.

Behind the memorial is the entire administrative building of Carmichael College. The design of this white administrative building is very aesthetic and beautiful. And there are a few coconut trees in front of this administrative building, which makes it look more beautiful. And right in front of the administrative building is the central Shaheed Minar of the college. Where on special days, the martyrs are remembered by placing flowers at the Shaheed Minar. There is a huge two-story mosque inside Carmichael College. Where students and teachers of the entire college can offer prayers. There is also a big temple here where Hindu students and teachers practice their religion.

Our Rangpur Carmichael College has a total of 22 departments in its education system and each department has a separate department building. However, the small departments have been divided into 2-3 departments in one building. The departments are beautifully arranged in this college. The subjects of the finance department are kept on one side, the subjects of the humanities department are kept on the other side, and the subjects of the business department are kept on a separate side. There is also an ICT building in this college where students are taught ICT. Although I do not study in this college, but one day I came to take a class in my Economics Department, but because of the 3rd year exams that day, we did not have a class.

There are several hostels in Carmichael College for students. In which many students live. The oldest hostel in the college is called G.M. Hostel. This hostel has about 200 students. And the biggest and most modern hostel in this college is Shaheed Abu Sayeed Hall. This is the newest and largest hostel. Where about 300-400 students study at the same time. Apart from these, this college has a separate hostel only for Hindu students. And only Hindu students of the college live there. Carmichael College has a large auditorium where all the college's major events and meetings are held.

There are many small and large fields in Carmichael College. However, there are two big main fields where many games are played simultaneously every day. In one of the big fields, three games are played simultaneously, and sometimes four games are played. This afternoon when I went to the college grounds, I saw three games being played on one side field and four games being played on the other big field and took pictures of them. There are also many other small fields. Every afternoon at least 10 games are played simultaneously at Carmichael College. I also played cricket on this college ground one day. On Fridays, the field has to be taken after Fajr prayers for playing, otherwise the field is not available.

The campus of Carmichael College is very big. There is a huge banyan tree here. There is also a pond, but currently there is no water in this pond. Many people hang out by the pond every afternoon. I also used to hang out with my girlfriends by the pond. The green trees on both sides of the big road in the campus have increased its beauty a lot. Apart from these, this college has a banking center, an organization for donating blood. There are many other social and recreational organizations in this college. Whenever I go to this Carmichael College, my mind feels good. It is an institution that I love very much. If I could study in this institution, I would consider myself blessed.
