Lentil Sausage
I finally got time to make a dish I'd been wanting to cook for a while. I tried this after watching a YouTube video. So let's see how I made it.
Ingredients:
1 cup lentils (makes about 10 sausages)
½ chopped onion
2 cloves, chopped garlic
A small piece of chopped ginger
1 tablespoon chili powder
¼ teaspoon turmeric
Salt and pepper to taste
A small amount of oil
Banana leaves for wrapping
Let's see how it is made...
Wash the lentils well and soak them in water for about 1 hour. After soaking, drain the water completely.
Heat a little oil in a pan. Add the chopped onion, garlic, ginger, . Saute until slightly browned. Add chili powder, turmeric, salt, and pepper powder. Stir well.
Add the lentils to the pan and cook on low heat for 3–4 minutes while stirring. Let the mixture cool completely.
Meanwhile, wash and dry the banana leaves. Cut them into medium-sized square pieces.
Blend the cooled lentil mixture until smooth. Add about 2 tablespoons of water and blend again for a soft texture.
Place a portion of the mixture on each banana leaf square. Roll it lengthwise into a sausage shape and wrap it tightly.
Steam the wrapped sausages for about 30 minutes. After steaming, let them cool. Remove the banana leaves, then fry the sausages lightly in a pan with oil or eat them as they are.
It is actually better quality than store-bought sausages. But it is not as tasty as those sausages . This can be recommended especially for vegetarians and young children.
So you can try this too.
This is my first time seeing this dish. Looks like a healthier option than store sausages.
