Dalan Colon or Colon Street - is a famous historical street in Cebu City which located in the city's downtown area, the street is often called the oldest and shortest national road in the Philippines. In my research, it is named after Cristobal Colon a.k.a (Christopher Columbus) a master navigator and admiral who has four transatlantic voyages, he opened the way for European exploration, exploitation, and colonization of the Americas. And also long been called the discoverer of the new world which he was awarded as Admiral of the Ocean Sea. The street built in 1565, and traces its origin to Miguel Lopez de Legazpi, the Spanish conquistador who arrived in the Philippines to establish a colony in the 16th century and eventually developed the street under by his leadership.

When we say Colon Street, it is a very crowded street and for now it is a bit run-down, which this is the place of fashionable shops, offices, movie houses, leisure premises, and malls. It was once known as the heart of Cebu City because it is the center capital where you can found shopping centers, eating cafeterias, in demand universities, well-known places of worship, business premises and etc. Beginning in the early 1990's, most of this premises has shifted to the more modern, bigger, diverse commercial and business districts, and now spread in almost all of the urban areas of Cebu in what was considered residential and leisure settlement.

It is a street where you can find general market and stores that sold ready to wear collections, such as clothes, pants, and shoes. Inwhich that are produced in standard sizes and not made to fit for a particular person, ready to wear and less expensive compared to high class couture and of course most affordable.

And these are some of big establishments that entered Colon street radius, and which includes.

• The Basílica Minore del Santo Niño de Cebu, which alternatively known as the Minor Basilica of the Holy Child or Santo Niño Basilica - is a minor basilica in Cebu City in the Philippines that was founded in 1565 by Fray Andres de Urdaneta and Fray Diego de Herrera. It is the oldest Roman Catholic church in the country, and allegedly builts on the spot where the image of the Senior Santo Niño de Cebu was found during the expedition of Miguel Lopez de Legazpi.

• Super Metro Gaisano - is one of the largest operator of department stores and hypermarkets in the Visayas region. As well as the second largest supermarket operators in accordance to retail sales value, and its opening and closing time is 9am-8pm.

• University of the Visayas - is one of the in demand universities in Cebu, it is a private institution which is the first school in the province of Cebu to attain university status.

• The Gaisano Main Mall - another one of the most department store operator in Central Visayas. And it is one of the oldest store in downtown area, its opening and closing time is 9am-8pm.

In every street corner, there are designated police outpost set-up, and inorder to maintain the peace and order of the place.

There were designated streets that provides a parking space for motorcycles, which you will pay 20 pesos (0.35 US$) for barkers, while for four wheel vehicles, you'll need to parked to designated proper parking areas of every establishments.
