Today, I will share the story of my trip to Mainamati War Cemetery, located in the Comilla district of our country. My native city is Comilla. I have been hearing the name Mainamati War Cemetery since childhood. We knew it as the English Cemetery when we were young. I visited the Mainamati War Cemetery a few times as a child. Mainamati War Cemetery is located twenty kilometres from my home. Last week, I visited Mainamati War Cemetery with my office colleague and two Steemian friends, @shahid76 and @sojib1996. As my native place was Comilla, I was their tour guide.

History of Mainamati War Cemetery:
45,000 Commonwealth soldiers stationed in Burma were killed during the Second World War (Commonwealth War). There are two burial grounds in our country. One is Comilla Mainamati War Cemetery, and the other is in Chittagong district. Mainamati War Cemetery in Comilla Cantonment has 736 graves from different countries. Most of the soldiers are from the UK. After we enter Mainamati War Cemetery, we see a banner with its history. I read and understood the entire history banner. I have given the history picture of Mainamati War Cemetery written on the banner below.

A large number of visitors visit the tomb every day. I took an introductory photo of some of the soldiers' graves, and each soldier was introduced. I read the inscriptions on some soldiers' graves. Most of the soldiers were very young. The Bangladesh Army controls the Mainamati War Cemetery. Entry is prohibited after 5:00 PM, but it is open for all at 10:30 a.m.
History of Mainamati War Cemetery
I carefully read the age and identity of each soldier. Their age really moves me. The Bangladesh Army has enhanced the beauty of the Mainamati War Cemetery. There is no entry fee, but after entering, everyone is very careful because the Bangladesh Army controls it. Flowers are planted around each burial site.
We entered the Mainamati War Cemetery at 4:00 p.m., travelled for about an hour, and left at 5:00 p.m. Today is a weekend day in our country, so many visitors come. I took a few pictures inside the Mainamati War Cemetery, Which is surrounded by greenery. Soldiers from different countries who died in the war of 1945 are buried here.
I have read history and know that most of the war dead here are under treatment in hospital. There was a military hospital in Comilla Mainamati then. Then, the wounded soldiers in the war were treated in this hospital. During the Second World War, the wounded in the Burma region were treated in this hospital. All the wounded soldiers who died are buried in the Mainamati War Cemetery. But I learned from an army man working here that later, the bodies of twenty-four soldiers were taken from the burial ground to their own country.
