Camila Cabello is one of the artists that I have started to fan girl from a very young age. I still remember how I enjoyed the auditions of her when she was competing a TV reality show. I think I was only 12 or 13 then, but she caught by heart by singing La Isla Bonita. Ever since then, I became diehard fan of her. “Treat You Better” caught my fancy and then I became a fan of Shawn Mendes as well. So no need to say that I was one among the many fans that adore this celebrity couples. And I was also one among the many fans who got their heartbroken after seeing their IG story where they broke the news of their break up.

I wondered what type of a song will turn up after their break up, and my curiosity didn’t have to wait too longs as Shawn released his new song “It’ll be okay” just ten days ago. I found the song to be very emotional, especially because I was someone who loved their chemistry. So I couldn’t remain unbiased. But still, certain things crossed my mind while watching the official movie, because the literature student in me wasn’t totally sleeping when watching it.

The first thing that I found fascinating is that I sensed maturity there.

Are we gonna make it?
Is this gonna hurt?
Oh, we can try to sedate it
But that never works.

If we can’t stop the bleeding
We don’t have to fix it, we don’t have to stay
I’ll love you either way

I’m totally in love with how the speaker dealt with his dilemma. He didn’t become an escapist trying to get away from the hurt by using sedatives. Similarly, he realized that those temporary sedatives won’t work either. He decided to let go of things if holding onto them caused more pain. I’m not gonna label his actions as right or wrong, but sometimes it needs more courage to let go of things rather than holding on to them. There is a mature way of thinking in these lines and I just loved it!

The next thing that I found excellent was the setting. The camera captured a view of a dark alley where Shawn works alone amidst the snow. The snow, dark alley, night time… They all suggest the isolation, desolation and the end of something. Shawn was walking alone and there seemed to be no other person around him which again highlights the lonesome. However, the MV was not pessimistic at all if you take a closer look at it. Even though it was dark in those alleys at night, there was always some light of a street lamp. Even though he was walking alone, he take slow and firms step as he have a clear idea and direction about what he was doing and what he wants. After all, winter is followed by spring and night by morning. Soon there will be spring and sun in that dark alley. I love that vibe of the MV.

I’m not gonna give anymore spoilers. Do check this song out if you love some nice melody and lyrics.

Thanks for reading!

Enjoy the song!
