My Unexpected Visit to a Hospital
Am I sick?
No I'm not. It was my sister-in-law's daughter who needs a check up because of her cerebral palsy and scoliosis that made them go to the hospital that day. My sister in law asked me to borrow her uncle's multicab so that they will have something to ride on when they go home a little past the middle of the night. They could hail a taxi but she said she will more confident if somebody she knew will be with her. It will be her fist time going in the city and gong home very late at night that is why she really needed help. Specialist they need to see only visits the hospital from 10 pm to 1 am so it is the patients that need to adjust on her schedule.
She and her daughter Pj is in the City to get a check up; PJ has a severe scoliosis and cerebral palsy, she turned 15 last year yet all she could say is *yaya for kuya(big brother), wawa for her granny and mama for mother. Sometimes, she could say ches for excuse and some more.
Pj stays at home, watch TV, walk form here to there, crawl and eat. Her mother does all the things for her and is a full time mom.
Pj, Indang and Vani went to the hospital in the aternoon and they expected me to come at 7 in the evening, and a sister-in-law's wife also went with me.
I was hesitant at first, my wife and me even had a small argument about what I am about to do because her sister does not trust my driving skills and now she is asking me to do it for her but I did it anyway.
This is how severe her scoliosis is
P j enjoyed walking around the hospital halls with her mother after she had her dinner.
You may wonder why they are still in the hospital even if the sun had already set a few hours ago; the doctor, a Neuro (that's what they say) has a schedule at at that time on the hospital, and when we came there, I saw children who s similar to PJ, some has better condition than her, but some has worse and it hurt my heart.
It made me reflect with life and I am very thankful that the Lord Almighty did not give me such a challenge in parenting.
Out of respect,I did not take picture so of the children. While waiting for the doctor, the parents are having conversations and as far as I over heard, some came from Ginoog City, and other neighboring provinces in Mindanao.
On my way to where they are waiting, I took photos of the empty hospital halls, a scary though then came to my mind, probably because I had been watching too much horror movies, that if the power runs out, the halls will be pitch black and well, I don;t want to continue to scare you all.
Anyway, the doctor took so long, and I occupied the vacant chairs and laid down on it, making weird faces to sent to my wife.
And to make this blog funny, I captured Alex's bald head which shone with the lights.
After Pj had been checked, her maintenance was changed form phenobarbital to another medicine and were asked to visit again after a few months. We then headed home and arrived past 1 am.
I had no regrets for helping and my wife's heart also melted when I told her about the other kids in the hospital.
So that's how my unexpected visit to a hospital went, it was hot in the city yet its all worth it. Thank you all for being here and keep safe! Do you know some relatives and friends who had the same condition as PJ?
Hospital visits are always unexpected. I like your writing style and wonder while hospitalsvand doctor offices never have great seats. It feels they don't care if you leave like a criple.
🍀♥️
It's even worse on public hospitals. Even the bed should be shared by two to three patients. Thank you for your kind comment
Is that so? With us they rather see you leave then come. More is done at home or just so and you are send home. Same for cancer treatments. No idea what the hospitals are for. ER is closed since years and it's not permitted to call an ambulance. It looks like how my grandmother did it with an elderly friend. Exchange of iinfo and meds ☹️
