Bireuen Regent Attends World Cleanup Day 2025 Commemoration.
Bireuen Regent, H. Muklis, ST, attended a Gotong Royong event to commemorate World Cleanup Day (WCD) 2025. The event took place at Kuala Raja Beach, Kuala District, Bireuen Regency, Aceh Province, on Saturday, September 20, 2025.
During the event, Bireuen Regent, H. Muklis, ST, stated that waste management in Bireuen Regency requires a collaborative effort across all elements of society.
The Regent revealed that the Bireuen Regency Government (Pemkab) had received a warning from the Central Government regarding substandard waste management. He hoped that each village (gampong) could play an active role in managing its waste independently.
"We want this waste problem to be addressed by each village (gampong). The Regency Government will provide a collection fleet to ensure optimal waste management," said Mukhlis.
He is optimistic that if this system runs well, waste management can not only create a clean environment but also become a source of Regional Original Revenue (PAD).
The Head of the Bireuen Environment and Forestry Agency (DLHK), Ir. Fadli, ST., MSM, stated that his agency will soon send letters to all sub-districts to encourage participation in waste management through mutual cooperation and environmental education.
"We want the waste problem to be addressed gradually and not become a source of new problems," he said.
Some time ago, a team from the Ministry of Environment and Forestry conducted a three-day field assessment at 18 strategic locations across various sub-districts.
The visit was part of a comprehensive evaluation of environmental cleanliness and Bireuen's readiness to receive the Adipura award, a prestigious award for cities that successfully maintain environmental sustainability and cleanliness.
The WCD commemoration with the Bireuen WCD Core Team was attended by approximately 500 volunteers from youth organizations (OKP), student organizations (Ormawa), environmental activists, the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) and the Indonesian National Police (Polri), and the general public in Bireuen.
