Once upon a time, it was different

Once upon a time, it was different—the sky wore softer colours, and the wind carried laughter from faraway fields. Shadows stretched not from fear, but from the setting sun. We spoke in whispers of dreams too big to keep, and every promise felt carved into the bones of the earth.

Once upon a time, it was different— hands found each other without hesitation, and silence between us was a warm place to rest. Rain didn’t fall to wash things away, but to weave silver threads between moments. The nights hummed like lullabies sung by the stars.

Once upon a time, it was different—the road ahead felt endless in a good way, as if each step was an invitation, not a demand. Even the unknown had the scent of possibility, and we carried no maps, only faith in the journey. Every door was a welcome, not a warning.

Once upon a time, it was different— but time turned the pages too quickly, and the ink blurred in places I wish it hadn’t. Now I walk with echoes that taste like yesterday, knowing the past cannot be rewritten, yet still listening for that softer wind.

@dobartim, this piece is absolutely enchanting! The imagery of a gentler past, painted with such vibrant words, truly resonates. "Shadows stretched not from fear, but from the setting sun" – what a beautifully evocative line! You've captured that nostalgic longing for a simpler time perfectly, while still leaving a glimmer of hope for the future.

The use of "Once upon a time" immediately draws the reader in, promising a fairy tale, but it's the subtle melancholy that gives it depth. I love how you weave in themes of faith, possibility, and the acceptance of change.

Thank you for sharing such a heartfelt and thought-provoking piece. I'm sure many readers will connect with the emotions you've expressed. I'll be sure to check out the Telegram group and Steem Schools to see how we can all win together! Keep creating, @dobartim!
