Cryptid Hunter – STEEM Version Update

in Steem POD Team22 hours ago

1. Update Progress

  • Currently testing new features, with additional updates planned for next week.

2. Growth in New Users

  • The number of new users is gradually increasing.
  • More new content is also appearing within the community.

3. Differences in Perception Between Existing Steemit Users and P2E Users

Recent issues have revealed clear differences in perception between users who have and have not experienced P2E services.

📌 Characteristics of Existing Steemit Users

  • Familiar with Steemit’s reward structure → content creation activities such as writing posts or participating in events are directly tied to rewards.
  • Strong belief in “free services” and “every action should lead to rewards.”
  • This has led to a tendency toward a bounty hunter mindset.

📌 Characteristics of P2E-Experienced Users

  • While some activities (such as ad engagements) can yield rewards, there is a common understanding that real profit requires upfront payment.
  • In Web3-based P2E services, the primary motivation is profit, and the token economy is a crucial component.

📌 Differences from Web2 Games

  • Web2 games are built primarily around fun and achievement, with deep gameplay as the foundation.
  • Most Steemit users have not experienced P2E, so they evaluate it through a Web2 lens.
  • This often results in payment resistance and a lack of investment motivation.

4. Nature of the Cryptid Hunter Service

  • A typical P2E service, focusing more on profit and tokenomics than on gameplay.
  • Since payment is required to participate meaningfully, resistance to this model is more prominent within Steemit.

5. Can Cryptid Hunter Be Changed to Fit Steemit Users’ Preferences?

  • Conclusion: Not without completely overhauling the game system.
  • Cryptid Hunter was designed from the start as a P2E model, so it should be approached from a Web3/P2E perspective rather than compared directly to Web2 games.
  • The development direction and structure are already finalized, meaning the core P2E nature will remain intact.

6. DAO Transition & Participation

For those who have applied to support the Cryptid Hunter DAO transition (@happypary and @erinleeishere),

7. Service Direction & Support for Steemit Adaptation

  • Cryptid Hunter’s main goal is to help TON blockchain users adapt to Steemit.
  • Therefore, the focus is more on external TON blockchain users rather than existing Steemit users.
  • To lower the high entry barriers of the STEEM blockchain, we avoid explaining posting/active keys in depth at the start.
  • This approach ensures that new users from outside can adapt to Steemit quickly without being overwhelmed by its complexity.

Greetings, friend @roadofrich

I think the work being done on Cryptid Hunter is excellent; however, with all due respect, I must tell you that the Steem POD Team community is only for posting reports from the curation teams and Steem Challenge contests.

This post can ideally be published on Steem Dev

Next time, it might be muted.

I just checked that the article has been updated on the Steem POD Team channel. I'll be careful from now on.

Steemit is an interesting service. Although it is a different social media blockchain service from the cryptid-hunter project, it seems to be compatible with the P2E model. Playing games and posting content can have a twofold effect, and since it also generates advertising and marketing effects, it will yield good results.
