STEEM ATLAS : Curation Guidelines for April 2025
The Steem Atlas team is very grateful to have the use of a Community Curation account again for the month of April.
Having the Community Curation account has very definitely helped to establish Steem Atlas as one of the primary apps on the Steem Blockchain.
We see Steem Atlas as a unique experiment in demonstrating the power of crowdsourcing personalised information in a very directed and purposeful way.
Steem Atlas is all about 'content with purpose' to produce something akin to a cross between TripAdvisor and Wikipedia.
We invite everyone to contribute to this unique Steem-powered Atlas of the World.
What is Steem Atlas
Steem Atlas provides an interface to the many thousands of place or location based posts on the Steem blockchain.
It already has over 40,000 posts that were inherited from the old Steemit Worldmap project.
Now we want to attract as many people as possible to add new posts to help make Steem Atlas an attractive, interesting and useful resource for people looking to find out about places anywhere in the world.
What we are looking for
Steem Atlas isn't just about tourist attractions - it is about any place or location.
Posts can be about...
- tourist attractions
- holiday destinations
- mountains & lakes
- museums & galleries
- theatres
- sport venues & stadiums
- zoos, animal sanctuaries & wildlife parks
- churches, temples & places of worship
- restaurants, cafes, bars & any type of eating place
- shops & shopping malls
- universities, colleges & schools
In fact any places or locations that you can locate on Steem Atlas.
We are looking for posts about specific places or locations.
We are NOT looking for Diary Game posts that happen to mention one or more places.
If you visited a restaurant or took the children to a theme park then write a whole post about the specific place.
You can write about your college, or your place of worship, or your favourite local shop.
We like detail and useful information - include opening times, entrance prices, car parking charges, and details of how to get to there.
Also include links for further information about the place for example their website and social media details.
If you include any prices, as well as the local currency please also include equivalent prices in STEEM or US$ - or at least include the current exchange rate.
We like photos - but be selective - only use the best ones you have taken, and make them big and clear.
Also it is very good to include a descriptive caption under each photo.
Posts should be about places you have personally visited with photos you have taken.
We definitely do not want plagiarised or AI generated content - anyone found to be making that sort of post will be blocked from Steem Atlas.
To make the most of your posts on Steem Atlas please follow the guidance in this post...
Most posts will be visited first by one of the Atlas Ambassadors (@damithudaya, @fantvwiki, @miftahulrizky, @mohammadfaisal, @willeusz, @vivigibelis).
They will often give advice and tips on how to improve your post.
It is very wise to act on that guidance and amend your post as quickly as possible before the main Steem Atlas curator (@pennsif) arrives.
That way you will likely get a greater reward.
The Atlas Challenge
As well as earning curation rewards from over 1.5M SP of voting power, you also have the chance of winning STEEM prizes by climbing up the Steem Atlas Leaderboard...
Each month the Atlas Challenge offers a prize pool of 1000 STEEM for those making it into the Top 10...
April is going to be another exciting month for the Steem Atlas project.
We hope as many people as possible will join us on the journey to make Steem Atlas a valuable resource.
