In Africa, Nigeria is one of the most blessed countries that has a variety of wildlife, and many of these available wildlife are under threat due to habitat loss, illegal wildlife trade, and poaching of this wildlife. The Nigerian government, in collaboration with international bodies, is doing everything possible to safeguard this wildlife, which has been shared in this post.
African Elephant:
The status of this animal is Vulnerable/Endangered, and it is faced with the following threats: habitat loss, and poaching for ivory. The areas in which this animal is protected are; Omo Forest Reserve and Yankari National Park
Cross River Gorilla:
The status of this animal is Critically endangered, and it is faced with the following threats. It is found only in the cross-river region with the Cameroon border, and it is estimated population is less than 300.
African Wild Dog:
The status of this animal is Endangered, and it is faced with the following threats:s: habitat fragmentation and human conflict. One of the disadvantages of this animal is that it is rare in Nigeria but still protected in Nigeria.
Red Capped Mangabey:
The status of this animal is vulnerable, and it is found in the Southern part of Nigeria's forest. The threats surrounding this animal is bushmeat hunting and Habitat loss.
