Great Mosque of Bujang Salim || Krueng Geukueh, Dewantara

Assalamualaikum wr.wb.
Dear friends, how are you today?, hopefully in good condition.

Today I would like to invite you to explore a mosque that is not only physically magnificent, in fact it is my favorite mosque that I stop by almost every day to worship. This mosque can bring inner peace when entering it. The mosque is called Masjid Besar Bujang Salim, located in Keude Krueng Geukueh, Dewantara District, North Aceh Regency, Aceh.

Usually when you first see a mosque, the impression must arise, namely its elegance. I made this post based on several photos that I documented during my visit there.

Great Mosque of Bujang Salim Krueng Guekueh

From the photo of the mosque courtyard above, the Bujang Salim Mosque looks very similar to the Baiturrahman Grand Mosque in Banda Aceh and many people even consider it a twin. The basic color of the mosque building is white with a black dome making it look magnificent, typical of mosques in Aceh. In the courtyard of the mosque, several trees grow to beautify the area, including date palms that give it a Middle Eastern feel. The courtyard is also a comfortable place to sit while waiting for prayer time.

The mosque gate and the view of the mosque from afar

From a distance, precisely in the Porsek office yard, we can see the gate of the mosque which is very sturdy and majestic and also has a dome. The architecture of the gate matches the overall main building, and when we look from outside the fence, the mosque stands proudly as if welcoming anyone who comes. This view gives a charismatic impression of Islamic religion and greatness.

inside the mosque

Let's look at the photo above, namely the inside of the mosque, we are immediately greeted by a sturdy colonnade with an artistic style where each pole is patterned like a gray-colored root from here adding to the beauty of the mosque.

Mosque pulpit

That's not me, but perhaps one of the main attractions inside the mosque is the wooden pulpit that has 9 stairs. The design is classic and made of very detailed carved wood. Interestingly, on the left and right of the pulpit there is a large analog clock made of carved wood, which gives a thick traditional feel.

Mosque ceiling

When you look up, the ceiling of the mosque is equally attractive. The details of the ornaments and lighting give a warm and calm atmosphere. When we look up, we feel as if we are under the dome of a spiritual sky that is airy and soothing to the soul.

Digital clock

On the west wall (inside the mosque) each left and right is a large digital clock that also displays running text. This text usually contains information on prayer times, announcements of religious activities, and important messages for worshipers. The existence of this clock is very helpful, especially for worshipers who want to confirm the time of worship.

Large air conditioner

Although the weather in Aceh is quite hot, being inside this mosque still feels comfortable thanks to the large air conditioning unit. The efficient placement of the air conditioners on the left and right walls keeps the temperature inside cool and adds comfort during worship, without disturbing the solemnity.

Glass shelves for placing the Quran and Islamic books

On several pillars of the mosque, there are several neat glass shelves for placing the Qur'an and Islamic books. The arrangement is organized and makes it easier for worshipers who want to read or recite the Koran in between times.

Speaker

For the call to prayer and announcements, the mosque also uses large speakers mounted on poles. The sound is clear and reaches all areas of the mosque, ensuring that every worshipper hears clearly the imam's recitation or the call to prayer.

The spacious exterior space of the mosque

The outside of the mosque is also very spacious, which can be used for various activities or accommodate additional worshippers when the mosque is full, such as for loading Friday prayers, for recitation and training for Umrah or Hajj. The tiled floor is neat and clean, making this area comfortable even when used for outdoor worship.

Menasah building and ablution and toilet facilities

Additional facilities include a building in which there is a menasah for the second floor and below that, ablutions and toilets. All are in a clean and well-maintained condition. This is important to support the comfort of pilgrims' worship.

Roofed two-wheeler parking lot

As for two-wheeled vehicles, there is a roofed parking area inside the mosque fence, while four-wheeled vehicles are provided parking outside the fence. This parking system is neatly organized and facilitates access in and out of vehicles.
