My favorite fruit of the week is cucumber. It is cultivated widely in the world for its edible fruit. It has a delicate flavor that makes it popular for relishes and salads. This fruit has high water contents that helps in relieving dehydration and it belongs to a family called Cucurbitaceae that provides nutrients like low calories, sodium, cholesterol and fat. There are certain types of cucumber like; lemon cucumber, Armenian cucumber, Japanese cucumber and Kirby cucumber. It has a large body rate dark green skin well some have few seeds, others have no seeds at all.


What are the health benefits of your favourite fruit.

  • Hydration: due to its high water content, they also contain electrolyte and consuming it helps to prevent dehydration after a workout or in hot weather.

  • Bone health: cucumber contains vitamin k that is good for clothing of blood and it also supports good bone health.

  • Cancer prevention: the high level of cucurbitacin in cucumber may help prevent cancer cells from reproducing.

  • Cardiovascular health: consuming cucumber is good for this.

  • Diabetes: substances in cucumber helps the lower blood sugar and also stops blood glucose from going up.

  • Skin care: applying cucumber in slices to the skin can suit and cool skin to reduce irritation and swellings.

  • Inflammation: Contents in cucumber have anti-inflammatory benefits.

To justify my claim, consider the following:

  • Boost immune system: the risk of illnesses and infections that may require hospital can be reduced to a diet rich in fruits to support immune functions.

  • Improve overall health: fruits provide essential vitamins, minerals and nutrients that will reduce hospital needs.

  • Reduce risk of chronic disease by incorporating fruits in our diets.
